"We went to the Stables for Mother’s Day, 4 adults a 4 month old baby. Unfortunately there was only a set menu costing £32 for 2 courses or £38 for 3 courses. We had 2 courses, one Peroni, one coffee a bottle of wine£23. The service was very slow despite the set menu. My daughter chose the lamb shank roast dinner, which she found very tough to cut. The staff were pleasant the food was OK, but nothing special. On each plate; one large carrot per person, a very small teaspoon size ball of cauliflower, a few green beans, 3 roast potatoes that were very dry, meat a Yorkshire pudding. Everything took such a long time. The total bill was more than £182, including over £20 service charge (12.5% , which personally I object to being told what size tip to leave and it was far more than I would have given for very slow service. I doubt we will be going there again as I find the cost, for what was essentially a Sunday roast dinner for 4, without even a choice of vegetables in a separate dish, was way over the top."
