"We went to Farrington Park with some vouchers that were about to expire and we selected the steak night. We chose the sirloin steaks for £30 for 2 but we were not told that they were peppered steaks. They were very heavily covered in pepper and I could eat mine but my wife had to scrape the pepper off as best she could. My wife did say to the waitress that it was too peppery for her and she said she was sorry. Everything else was absolutely fine with the dining experience, the steak was cooked to perfection and the taste was lovely, just beware if you don't like too much pepper tell the waitress when you order!"

"This was our second visit having been for Sunday lunch in the autumn with friends.It was my Mum's 88 th birthday family lunch and it was lovely in every way.Easy access to the restaurant via lift and parking available on the street outside.The restaurant is elegant retaining a lot of original features the food exellent with friendly and attentive service. "My parents and family friend went for lunch at Thomas Lord Pub to celebrate my 50th birthday. I cannot praise the staff enough for helping make it the most perfect afternoon for us. The lovely waitress Roxy, and her lovely colleagues, a guy and a lady that usually works the breakfast shift, (I didn't get their names), were just so friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem and they really made us feel special. I'd been out for lunch at a pub on the outskirts of Winchester recently and was so disappointed by the extremely rude waitress there that I just could't believe how friendly, helpful staff really make a difference to the whole experience of eating out. The food was incredible, I had the fish and chips and it was out of this world, the batter was so light and crispy and the fish was so fresh. I would not hesitate to book lunch here again and would recommend The Thomas Lord pub to anyone!"

"I always enjoy dining at this restaurant. I recently went for brunch on a Monday and the food was fantastic as usual. I ordered the Bookshop benedict. They were able to accommodate us even though we hadn't made a reservation. The service was very friendly, but the only downside was the wait for drinks. At one point, we waited 45 minutes and it seemed like they might have forgotten one drink order. It's understandable that mistakes happen, but no one came to check in during that time and there was no acknowledgement when we brought it up, which was disappointing."

"eating was very tasty and portions were really decent. not a huge menu (3-4 options per category,) but overall we were made to feel worth and service was in order, but there were some long waiting times (approximately 25 minutes between starter and main - after we finish our starter and about 15 minutes until we actually managed to pay - we tried to catch the attention of one of the waiters.) "Four of us enjoyed a very pleasant amiable afternoon tea for a 70th birthday, the sandwiches were yummy, as were the scones, the jam was rather too sweet for my palate, and I'm not sure if the clotted cream had been frozen as it was a bit grainy and no taste! There was a lovely panacotta in a small glass with a pshyllis. We all had whatever tea or coffee that we preferred . There was also a variety of cakes, which were too much for us, so we both took them home. The staff were lovely and very attentive. The room was tastefully decorated with linen covers on the chairs. The only real negative was that we were charged £15 instead of £14, as my husband went to settle up I didn't realise till we got home."

"We live in Canada and we were traveling to UK to surprise my parents for Xmas. So at the first week of Nov we booked a Table for 6 for Sunday lunch for 1:30 on Dec 20th with a plan to meet and surprise them at the restaurant with them believing they were booked as a table for 2. 3 weeks after booking online I called to confirm the booking etc and all was ok. 2 weeks prior to the date, my parents drove to Marston Farm to see where it was and confirm that was the place they were booked in. They were then told that they weren't booked in at that time anymore as they had taken a booking for a christening and couldn't get them in until that evening. The then sent me an email saying my parents couldn't make it for 1:30 and wished to move the booking. After calling them again from Canada they confirmed that they had taken a block booking, cancelled our reservation and wouldn't have told us if my parents hadn't been to see them that day.. Very unprofessional..! Not recommended..."
