"we went to lunch. I'm a few times in the years both as a carnivore and vegan. I had the VG chicken in a basket for the first time as vegan, but they get three strips from since then for £14. that's not worth it at all. this time I went with the VG-Tacos, roasted sweet potato. the tacos came out and were served cold. I have read a few reviews and all the others have them cold, so I assume they are served like that, but they should be warm after my thought. I mean my roasted sweet potato means that it will be warm! the sauce on the tacos was not too big, it was like a version of the vegan nando perinaise, but not so good. the other half had garlauchbrot and liked it! next the burgers, I had the generic wg fleshy that I admit, I can do much better at home! I couldn't even taste the relish, or mayo said it was up to me to check even the bungalow. the other half said his side burger was nice. Unfortunately, the chips are not homemade cloby chips as they were earlier. they taste more like frozen, sucking because they have been my favorite thing to dylans! the two tacos cost me £7.95, which was small. I thought they would make a good starter, but I felt they were expensive for what they were. the burgers cost £13/£14, which I thought was what they are, as expensive. the personal must learn to bring salt and vinegar out as standard when there are chips. they ask if they like any sauces, but the fact that the salt and vinegar is not on the table is silly to me? our meal with two appetizers and two burgers, a koss and an apfelsist came to £45. on what it is. people say it's where it is. but I live in the red wharf bay and the restaurants right at the sea here are not so crazy price and if they are to get their money. will not hurry back soon! as someone who lives here permanently, would it be nice to have a few more decisions, a pasta court for example (vegan mac or carbonara) and a tomato base?"

"TL/DR: Bland, ‘old’ food. Interesting history. Sits on gorgeous castle grounds. NOT worth the price. Service team beholden to old ideas and traditions inconsistent with the needs of the modern dining experience. Let me admit a few things: 1) I’m an American and due to our history, I have developed a more sensitive radar to help recognize when my white privilege and colonialism are being put on a pedestal. 2) I don’t know a lot about the history there, why certain traditions have been preserved at George V, and I don’t pretend to know how the staff feel about working there. I bought a book on Ireland’s history to better understand the complicated relationship between Ireland and the crown. 3) I get it, it’s a restaurant review, not a history book. But when you name a place after a former king, we naturally get here. The quick and dirty becuase I have minimal characters left: the grounds are gorgeous the restaurant was built for George V and man does it feel and taste like it is deliberately maintaining old preparation techniques and ideas yikes the food was not good. It just wasn’t. It’s not the service team’s fault, but someone in charge who is choosing to hold on to a boring, outdated menu catering to old, rich white people (small changes could have made the meal interesting and like it belongs in 2022) the only diversity present was among the service team. It’s cringey as a diner. multiple people served us in a disconnected way: the person who sat us took our order (which confused another person), someone else spoke to us about wine and couldn’t answer other questions, someone else served it, and none of those were our main server I left this experience feeling disappointed and confused. How much of my experience is white guilt vs real restaurant problems? Should a restaurant rooted in royal history consider their representation of colonialism in 2022 a real restaurant problem? I absolutely think so."

"So, I have been here once before the food was absolutely AMAZING and I have been really looking forward to coming here again The lobster last time was the most amazing lobster I have ever eaten in the UK. a good size, cooked to...perfection! On this occasion sadly, I feel as though the standard has completely dropped. The lobster was mushy which suggests it had not been stored properly (this usually happens when the lobster has been killed and left in the fridge for too long so the enzymes begin to break down the meat) I also found a hair at the side of my plate I let the waiter know and he just said ‘at least it’s not on your food, and wiped it off with his finger’ no apology that was it. I said nothing after this because I could sense by his energy that me saying anything more was going to become a battle I didn’t not have the energy for on this occasion Anyway I started writing my review and the waiter had seen so said ‘it’s that about me’ so I explained to him my concerns with the food. And he said ‘ok don’t damage the business’ He also explained that it’s the same chef etc but in all honesty that’s none of my business, from having such an amazing experience before to this. I am deeply disappointed. He did remove a apple juice and the service charge from the bill and apologised that the food was not the same and hoped we would have a better experience next time. This didn’t do much as I didn’t plan on paying the service charge anyway. Unfortunately I won’t be returning as that was a waste of on a unsatisfactory meal for people."
