"Afternoon tea for our daughter’s for a family party of began with some confusion over the booking. It appears that OpenTable bookings do not automatically mean“afternoon tea“, so though a phonecall the previous day to the restaurant had been made to check the arrangements it took a little while to sort a table. Nevertheless the staff made every effort to recover the situation and were friendly and helpful, even offering a complimentary glass of champagne to the guests. The choice of teas was wide, the sandwich fillings varied, as were the pastries, with contrasting and delicious flavours, textures and colours. Warm scones with jam and clotted cream ended the feast which took place in a busy but comfortable environment. As we were staying in the Hotel we also had breakfast in The Hansom which though a buffet style service, had good quality, hot, and fresh items on offer."

"I took my mother to the Two Sisters restaurant for her birthday last Sunday. We were immediately greeted and informed about the brunch options (i.e. buffet versus brunch specials and other adjustments, such as turkey bacon instead of pork). I think this is a great place for a relaxed brunch and definitely for a mother-daughter date. We loved the food and the service. We drove to a Groupon and will definitely drive again without the Groupon. Worth it."

"I was disappointed with my latest visit to this restaurant. I have had great experiences here before, but this time was not as enjoyable. I made a last-minute reservation on a Saturday night and was surprised to find no one to greet us at the door. The restaurant was nearly empty, aside from a large family group who had been there before us. The food was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Overall, I was unimpressed. It's a shame because this restaurant had so much potential when it first opened."

"member of the Reception Team behaved in an unacceptable manner to both myself and another member of my dinner party we both arrived at separate times. We would both expect an establishment such as this would treat all guests in the same manner, and unfortunately this did NOT happen"

"Whenever I get the inclination to write a review it’s usually because it’s so good and I want to shout about my experience to everyone… however this is not my usual 5* recommendation! As locals we have visited this cafe on a few occasions for breakfast or a coffee stop. It’s a great location, nice decor, dog friendly and delicious food. What’s not to like? Well, the staff, or more specifically the owner! She lacks any customer service skills, she smiles through gritted teeth, orders her staff around while she stands observing (or waiting for an argument . Each time we’ve visited she’s had an issue with something. Once she argued with me because I asked for my latte to be served in a cup rather than a tall glass. She proceeded to try and educate me on coffee making (I’m barista trained ! She reluctantly gave me it to me in a mug with a jug of extra milk which wouldn’t fit into the mug anyway! More recently we arrived, it was quiet, and chose to sit in the window (the largest table as we had our dog and didn’t want him to be in the way. She rushed over and demanded we sat at another table because she “couldn’t afford for us to take up a larger table”. We moved without an issue but she was very confrontational (as always and made the rest of our dining experience uncomfortable. So uncomfortable in fact that despite being ravenous we almost didn’t order. The cafe remained quiet throughout our time there, plenty of empty tables and yet she proceeded to use the larger window table to accommodate her staff, herself and a friend who popped in. How is that fair? So my advice to you as a fellow catering/ hospitality manager is… Learn from your Trip Advisor feedback, Book yourself on a free customer service course and lead by example and if you are worried about costs reduce the number of staff. 5 staff on duty in a cafe that seats approx 25 people at full capacity is not needed. Maybe the owner should put her feet up at home and let the lovely younger people do their thing. They all look so nervous around her and are almost too afraid to speak. I’m sure they’d do a far better job without her monitoring their every move. Even the Chef (her husband maybe? looks petrified of her!! Certain people are not cut out for customer facing roles and she is one of them! I’m pretty sure she doesn’t read any of these reviews as she’s been like this since my first visit 5 years ago!! What a shame. This place could be a thriving business and a welcoming village cafe but I’m sure her confrontational attitude and unwelcoming nature put people off from returning. Such a shame as the food and coffee are delightful"

"Remarkable to find this restaurant in the middle of London in the 21st Century. Traditional vegan Japanese foods prepared imaginatively, delicious and served with grace and dedication. Ecologically sourced ingredients and in each dish underlying ethical principals. There were many choices in the menu which was a bit overwhelming nevertheless there is plenty of variety and meals for different tastes. I had tempura as part of my fare, an array of flavourful cooked and fermented delicacies and exquisite sushi with a mouth watering creamy sesame dessert. This is healing food that can be savoured and not rushed."

"Total failure to meet Indigo’s basic promise of pre theater meal. We booked this restaurant from the US specifically because of its promise of its pre theatre special menu and service. We relied on their local knowledge and advise and booked at 6 for a 7:30 curtain . We Arrived at 6:05 delayed by an misdirected Uber) and seated promptly and ordered the simplest pre theatre menu after we confirmed our theatre plans and need for extra time as slow walkers. They confirmed no issues. Food and drink was fine but no time to eat as the entree arrived 10 minutes before our required departure time. If you can’t meet your promise, don’t promise. Totally failed."

"My family dined at a table outside in front of the restaurant. Our table was assigned a number, so when we placed our order at the counter, they knew where to bring our food. Two of us shared the mackerel and leek quiche and the classic cullen skink meals. We enjoyed drinks and the beautiful view as we waited for our food. The quiche arrived at room temperature, but when I asked a server about it, she explained that was how it was served. She kindly offered to heat it up for me, which I appreciated. The salad was fresh and tasty, accompanied by a side of creamy coleslaw and chips (similar to French fries). The chips were crispy and delicious. The cullen skink was like a rich potato soup with thin slices of potato, leeks, and smoked haddock. It was served with bread and butter. While nothing stood out as exceptional, everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. The staff was friendly and efficient, and we had a lovely evening in a charming small town in Scotland."

"We really enjoy the brasserie, but we were disappointed by the small portions and the lack of gluten-free bread. We expect every food service establishment to accommodate dietary restrictions. The service was also lacking this time, as we had to ask twice for water and butter for the table. These items should have been provided without us having to request them separately."
