"we have a friend for early dinner who had traveled overseas, we thought that hotel du vin would be a good place to din. during the online booking it did not show any availability at all on a Wednesday evening at 18 o'clock. I called the restaurant and said they could fit us in at 18.15. at the arrival we were the only diner and the place was empty apart from a private function that went in one of the rooms, so is uncertain why there were no places to book in the restaurant, unless they had insufficient personal. the waiter took our weeping order and returned with 2 glasses tepid slightly fizzy white whip, not all we expected. when he returned after our food order, we asked for a wee so that he offered to change it. the new wein was much better cooled and still. our eating was average sea bass with kartoffels and the whole evening there was only another couple that dined. We also moved into the bar very quiet where cash payments are not possible and had a drink. the waiter told us that the restaurant was empty, as a booking for 120 had been canceled. is regularly gedint, but will not rush back again, as there is so much competition in central birmingham."
