"The food, once it arrived, was hit and miss. The beef, for which we paid a supplement, was reportedly brilliant, while the turkey was said to be lovely and came in a huge portion. However, the vegetarian option of celeriac was not as exciting, with a gungy sauce and lack of accompanying trimmings. The puddings were all enjoyable.
Although the staff were friendly, it seemed they lacked proper training. Some were unaware of what they were serving, and the service for distributing coffee and tea was haphazard. As a former waitress, I understand the challenges of serving older, hard of hearing, and large groups with alcohol. However, as a non-drinker in the group, I felt that attention to detail was lacking.
Overall, it wasn't the worst service or meal I have experienced, but there is definitely room for improvement. I have written this review as constructive criticism, in the hope that the lovely and smiling staff will continue to improve."
