"the cheeseboard was nice as a starter. the thunfisch bruschetta thunfisch caesar salat was very disappointing. the bruschetta was literally only 2 bit roasted super market bread with tinted thun-fished red on top. the salat was a small plate of chopped iceberg or something similar, tasted very watery, with a few pieces tinted thunfish on. it said blue cheese dressing, but I couldn't taste anything. my friend said his lasagne was “OK”. the sharing ruhetagamisu with marsala wein was beautiful, we enjoyed that. the restaurant is really nice, the service was good, we had a good time not wanted to complain about eating as on a date, but I think it could be much better. it was not infallible, but in a city of large restaurants, we do not feel like we want to return to this. I'm sorry."

"BEWARE!!! ...The cocktails are very weak, and contain nowhere near the alcohol level that they should. We paid £24 for two cocktails. Our glasses were filled to the top with crushed ice then they produced a premixed 1.5 litre bottle of long island iced tea and simply poured one measure over the crushed ice. So it was not only diluted with the crushed ice but also contained just one measure of what should have been a mixture of spirits...it just tasted of water from the crushed ice. So bad that I have made a formal complaint to trading standards."

"Make sure when booking you specify if you do not want to sit at bar high chairs. We didn't for accessibility reasons and although they seated us we were rushed out in hours. The staff did their best, just not equipped to flex."

"I had afternoon tea, which was quite simple—just four quarter sandwiches and a few cakes for two people. The atmosphere was a bit somber as it was a farewell gathering. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was beautiful, although it took a little while to get comfortable. But once we had a few glasses of bubbly, it was delightful!"

"We arrived at the restaurant for our booked special occasion, only to find out that they had no record of our reservation. This resulted in a disappointing experience as we had to wait while they tried to find a suitable table for us. When we were finally seated, we found ourselves at very low seats that were not ideal for enjoying our afternoon tea. Overall, it was a spoiled experience for us."

"Dine at Zack’s fairly often so know what to expect. Christmas time so bit busier didn’t seem a problem and staff were bubbly and friendly. There was a mix up with our orders though and two of five of us ended up with wrong type of potatoes. One got replacement pots on the house, I made do with the wedges that I hadn’t ordered. Otherwise fine until the end when the waitress (not the same one who’s served earlier) clearly wanted to get us out so she could go home!"

"Was looking for somewhere for a quick bite and a drink before a show on a Friday night. Exactly what we were after. Burger and a soft drink for under a tenner each. Toilets were clean and staff very friendly and professional. Bar busy but not too crammed in."

"Booked for the wine tasting experience. All the food was on a board which was literally 5 items which any household could put together very easily from any supermarket. There was no thought process in the food matching the wines. We where given 2 wines each at a time no explanation about the wine until we asked which then wasn't clear. We opted out of the last 2 wines and deserts which gives you the idea of our experience. And a bill at the end of nearly £100 we felt ripped off."

"This is a welcoming local pub with great staff. On Monday, some former colleagues got together for lunch. We all opted for the fish and chips, which turned out to be very tasty, especially since several other menu items were unavailable. It seems they were experiencing some supply issues. Otherwise, this place would have earned a 4-star rating!"

"It was my first visit to The William, and I wasn't sure what to expect. After a long nine-mile journey, I was in need of a drink and a meal. I was served at the bar by Oscar, who was incredibly friendly and polite. I ordered a curry, which arrived within just 10 minutes. I found it delicious and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The England vs. Switzerland game was being shown — a stroke of luck for me since I had no idea they were playing! By the way, England won 2-1! Overall, it was a really pleasant experience, and I definitely plan to return. I only wish I could have stayed longer."

"Haven’t visited family for years and my father suggested a trip to the sports. I walked in and it was like I’d never been away. Welcomed back and lovely to see old faces who are we looked after by the staff. It gives them company and safety surrounded by familiar surroundings. Impressed with the new menu, had the small planks which was 5 for 12.49 which fed 3 of us. The barmaid commented it was amazing and their ‘Birkenhead tapas’ it arrived quickly and cooked to perfection. Grateful for how they take care of their regulars and go the extra mile to make sure they are happy. Would give more stars if I could and thank you"

"First time I visited this pub and never again. I drink Stella and when I went in for my second pint the bar lady advised me that she had no Stella glasses left. I offered her to use my previous Stella glass, but I was told abruptly that this was not allowed due to covid restrictions date today when I visited this pub was 14/06/2023 (I WOULD SAY IT WAS DUE TO NOBODY COLLECTING THE 100 EMPTY GLASSES LEFT ON TABLES OUTSIDE, WHICH WAS THE REAL REASON THERE WERE NO STELLA GLASSES IN THE BAR) but they allowed glasses to be taken out in to the beer garden instead of plastics. The Bar staff were very rude and over all no customer service, and they didn't really look happy in their jobs. For a pub in a well off area of Cardiff, it's very poor and not very welcoming at all. You would get better service and more friendly staff in the local weatherspoons down the road for half the price. Never again I would also like to state the atmosphere in and outside the pub is very intimidating and not somewhere you would go on either a date or a family occasion. Definitely not a place I would want to take my children."

"there was a mix with my booking when a private party had borrowed the whole trinity kitchen! I had a table for 4 of us for prosecco and cupcakes for my birthday. for the happiness the employees left us our table and gave us a bottle of prosecco and cupcakes on the house for the inconvenience. the cupcakes were beautiful and we would definitely be back with how nice the staff was"

"After spending an hour in the restaurant, we finally received our starter, which we decided to share. We ordered haggis bonbons, but there were only three tiny balls, and they were gone in about three minutes because we'd been waiting so long. We then waited nearly another 30 minutes for our mains. When they finally arrived, the presentation was impressive; however, the steak was overly salty—so much so that I couldn’t continue eating it halfway through and had to give up. The onion rings were excellent, but the mac and cheese on the side was quite dry. We ordered another round of drinks when our main course arrived. I was having French martinis, but when my drink came, I was told they had run out of an ingredient and substituted it without asking for my approval. If I had known, I would have chosen something else. Since we opted for the market menu, we shared a portion of ice cream for dessert, which was delicious. In total, our bill came to £100, and I don’t think we’ll be returning anytime soon. The service was very slow, and while the food looked good, I would advise others to be cautious—the saltiness of the meat left me feeling like I had been drinking the sea."

"This is a fantastic place to grab a drink, especially because they serve San Miguel. The menu is impressive and they have great deals. I plan to come back and try the food. The bar staff is friendly enough. The only downside is that the toilets are located down a long flight of stairs, but they are the cleanest I have seen in a long time, making the climb worth it. Additionally, there are disabled toilets available on the main floor. I highly recommend this pub for sports fans, as there are TVs all around for watching games."

"The staff seemed disorganized when it came to table reservations. When we arrived, other guests were already seated at our table, and the staff had to ask them to leave. They also weren’t sure if the table needed to be sanitized before we sat down and asked us if we wanted it cleaned. Additionally, they mistakenly added an extra £40 for drinks to my father's bill that we hadn’t ordered, and it took a long time to resolve the issue and remove the charges."

"This is a spacious pub located right next to the market. It tends to get quite busy in the evenings, especially on Fridays. The pub is conveniently close to the bus station and directly across from Basildon railway station, making it easy to avoid drinking and driving. The lighting inside is either dim or dark, depending on your perspective. They only have Pride Bombardier on tap. The outdoor seating area is near the road, but it isn't a heavily trafficked street for the most part. Children are not allowed inside the bar, but I'm unsure if they can sit outside, so it's best to check beforehand if you're considering bringing kids. There’s a raised seating area on the right and a smaller one on the left. The pub is accessible for wheelchair users. They offer several meal deals, including 'Grill a Drink' for £5.99 and 'Sunday Roast' for £4.99, and there's one featuring steak, although I didn’t note the details. Spirits are served in 25ml shots, but you can opt for a double."

"This morning, I visited the restaurant for the first time after my train troubles. I charged my phone and ordered a pint of Guinness from the bar, which was fresh and served with a five-pound note. The Welsh gentleman behind the bar, who seemed to be the owner, was very helpful and directed me to the trains for London Bridge. I also ordered a burger, which was a bit pricey but decent, and there was a great deal that included a beer. If I lived nearby, this place would definitely be a regular spot for me."
