"We’ve been to The Travelling Man a few times over the years and have normally had a good experience. We arrived to be told there’d be a delay as they had a booking of 30 due so the main dining room would be full. We were told a 20min wait but it was only 5 or 10 mins before we were seated in the small room. Maybes due to the arrival of the group but we were served our main meals, piping hot within minutes. We didn’t feel rushed at all and the staff were great. The meals (roast of the day) was lovely, enough to make you full. We would prefer to have had a gravy boat as opposed to the meals being served with gravy all ready on and would be nice to have had beer mats too."

"Once seated, we ordered our drinks and food, and upon checking our table, it seemed fine. We placed our drinks there and headed to the carvery. The selection of meats was impressive, but my wife, who is vegetarian, found it strange that there were no alternatives offered for her. The vegetables were bland, with some overcooked and others undercooked. The cauliflower cheese had little to no cheese flavor, the stuffing was subpar, and the Yorkshire puddings tasted cheap, likely frozen bulk purchases. On the positive side, the meats were excellent and the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, this did little to improve my wife's experience, as she was very disappointed. The staff member serving the meat was friendly and accommodating, which was appreciated. However, we noticed that adjoining tables were left uncleared with dirty plates and glasses throughout our hour-long visit. This was particularly disappointing, especially since several staff members were chatting at the bar while we were there. Overall, it was a disappointing meal, and we would not consider returning under these circumstances."

"Had the most perfect send off at Shipley Golf club for my mum Rita Trickett on Sat 19th March 2022 Their Beckfoot suite is lovely, and their lounge has plenty of tables and chairs. It also has a spacious terrace with fabulous views of their green so we could sit outside. Alice Beeley was amazing and made sure every requirement was met, nothing fazed her even when 6 guests had to drop out with 2 days’ notice, she really is a superstar. She arranged to have 2 tables to make 1 large Memory table to display the flowers, plus framed photos, and a memory book for friends to sign. Their Bar had everything you could want, great service from their friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Their Buffet was all home made by their amazing chef: gorgeous sandwiches, mini quiches, slices of sausage roll, pork pies, plus scones served with clotted cream and jam. I ordered prosecco for the speech toast which was handed round to each guest by their staff in readiness. Highly recommended, 5 stars!"
