"Have been a regular visitor for some years. The last few times I have been, although teacakes are on the card, they have not had any. This time I checked and, no, not today. Now there is a Greggs right next door and you would think, if you were a manager, 'someone may want a teacake i 'll nip next door and buy a pack for £1.20 '. Not here tho. So, feeling a bit resourceful and, liking their coffee, nipped to Greggs and bought a pack. Said to the very nice assistant ' as you don 't have any would you do one of these, I 'll pay you and have a coffee or two ' Assistant asks manager (sorry sales prevention manager) ' herumph, couldn 't possibly, no, i 'm not doing that ' almost verbatim. Net result, go 200 yards up the road to new Dunelm cafe, much nicer, good review to follow. Now, is it me? Service is this: a good old friend had a traditional english Steak House in the 90 's. Gang of chaps come in, one moaning that he wants a curry. Bit of banter, Rob cheekily refuses to take his order but asks what curry he likes. I think you 'll see where this is going. As the steaks arrive for the gang, in troops a very dark gent with serving dish held high and serves sad chap a curry from the restaurant next door. Result sad chap now happy, Rob gets loads of publicity. This I like, no teacakes and sales prevention NO!"
