"We've drank and eaten in this pub since moving to the area 8 years ago. It's always had potential, with a seperate dining room, bar and outside area but nobody has ever put the effort in... Until Now! Visiting today, the dining area has been re-decorated, pool table re-surfaced, new TVs, outside area going through a refit etc. New beer lines being added.. This should soon be a contender to the popular locals Red Lion and Markeaton. Bar staff always friendly and approachable, great family pub. Speaking to the new manager, it's clear he cares about the pub doing well, and is already putting in the hard work. It's a Stonegate pub, so you get the great food and prices and regular updates to the menu. I mean who can go wrong with a alcoholic drink and burger for less than £10! Weely quiz every Thursday which you can do on your smartphone and play for big prizes nationally. Keep up the good work and we wish you every success for the future"

"Really nice pub, great views of the whole of Portsmouth. The good first, food and service was excellent, 100% recommend! Now the sad bit. My sister and her husband booked this pub for our mothers wake. Many of our guests (15ish) didn 't get their desserts even though it was charged for. The bar staff said we could purchase another dessert as the table 17 tab (our tab) was now closed. We were told the reason was we didn 't eat fast enough and they now didn 't have staff to make the desserts. About 30 mins later the manager came over and offered us a refund on all the people who didn 't get a dessert. He did confirm the desserts were charged for under the table 17 tab. Yes many of us were frustrated, we said it was ok to keep the money and we left. Very saddened to write a review like this."

"Really enjoyed our visit to Munch following the change in ownership and would highly recommend it based on our dining experience. Lovely staff, great service, warm atmosphere and a delicious meal. Though we only had chicken crunchies, burgers and fries everything was served served hot,...fresh and and to a very high standard. The burger was the best I’ve had in a very long time, the chicken crunchies superb and the accompanying salad and delicate dressing delicious. Will definitely be ordering a takeaway during lockdown and ask others to support so we can dine in again as and when they reopen. Nice one Munch, thanks!"

"What a lovely little quirky eatery, my friend and I had afternoon tea. Two types of finger sandwiches, fruit cake, granola bar bits, chocolate brownies, home made jam tarts and scones with clotted cream and jam, a big pot of Earl grey with another big pot of hot water so plenty for the two of us, would definitely recommend."

"I’ve never eaten in the restaurant but I will certainly do so in the near future having been impressed more than once with their takeaway/home delivery service (via Uber Eats/Just Eat). First of all, it’s nice to get a proper meal cooked and delivered instead of your standard Turkish/Indian/Chinese options etc. Secondly, the delivery is absolutely rapid Fratellis don’t mess about! Lastly most importantly, the food has been sooo good. The Pollo Funghi I’ve ordered a couple times. It comes in a big square foil tray 3 big bits of chicken breast in a lovely, creamy sauce with plenty of sliced mushrooms, a handful of chunky chips, a couple of boiled potatoes and some spinach and broccoli. It’s really delightful and the portion size is very generous. The chicken pakora is very nice too. Different but lovely. About 8 bits of chicken. Not a fan of the cold tomato based salsa style dip that accompanied it though. The Risotto Gamberoni (King Prawns) was also excellent. Arrived in a long narrow tray but very filling and tasty and again very generous with the amount of prawns in the dish. Loved it! My wife has ordered a few pasta dishes which she has also thoroughly enjoyed so overall a great find and looking forward to ordering again/popping in for some proper good grub. Great Job!"

"This pub is located at the end of Old Amersham, and the lady at the bar was very friendly and welcoming. There were plenty of seating options, and when the sun is shining, the pub garden is a lovely place to relax. The food we ordered—a chicken sandwich—was decent. However, I had requested the chicken without breadcrumbs, and it came with them instead (there were two versions available). I didn’t mention it at the time."

"When we arrived at The Village Hotel Aberdeen we were put in a lovely room with a super king size bed, lovely decor and it was lovely and clean. We stayed the first night in this room, the bed was extremely comfortable and a very good size. The problem was I have mobility difficulties and there was a bath in the bathroom. I went to reception to see if they could do anything, the staff were very friendly and helpful and changed our room to an accessible room. I really wish we hadn't changed room! The accessible room was awful! The bed was a small double and the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, I woke every hour through the night with back pain, as did my partner. The room decor was dingy and the carpet was stained, there were marks on the sheets and the TV was much smaller than the TV in the original room. Why does the accessible room not have the same standards as a normal room? I was appauled. They really should improve the standard of the accessible room, it is unfair that people that need to use these rooms have to compromise on comfort and luxury. On a positive note, the staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly, the breakfast and evening meal were very delicious, although quite expensive. The breakfast is a buffet style with lots of choice. The evening meals have a good size portion and are very yummy. There is limited room service available between 5pm and 9:30pm. The bar was well stocked, although some of the drinks on tap were not available because the pumps were broken. The bar prices are quite expensive... £10.60 for a pint of larger and a Jack Daniels with diet Coke. My overall opinion is that if you are staying in a standard king size room then I would recommend, but if you are staying in an accessible room avoid unless you want a bad back!"

"I liked the other branches, but not this one. I thought it would be the same, but it wasn't. We waited 40 minutes for the dürüm kebab. It was very cold when we got it. I wish the staff would wear masks and gloves while cooking. From what I could see, they weren't wearing gloves or masks. The man scratched his head and continued preparing food. The other one only put the hairnet on top of her head. The rest of her hair was out. I wish you would take your job seriously. "The food at this restaurant is usually good, but one day I ordered a king rib dinner that was incredibly greasy and made me feel sick for the rest of the evening. "It happened late on a Sunday night. We were greeted by the minute we arrived and assured that they were more than happy to put us for food, even the service came to an end. The food was really good quality, fresh and boiled well prepared... the waitress was top drawing, pleasant and polite. We did not feel disappointed in any way the delay of the hour. A pleasant atmosphere with a beautiful transverse breeze from the open windows in the porch style. All in all this little jewel ended our evening beautifully. Thank you."

"I am a regular at this restaurant, but this time I did not have a very enjoyable experience. The appetizers I ordered were not fresh, the dancers' performance was boring, and the music was not good. There were more drunk people than usual, which I know is not something the restaurant can control. Overall, it was not a good night. I have had better experiences at Tropicana in the past. I hope it was just a bad night and that things will improve in the future. I must say, the security and service from the staff were excellent, and I appreciate that."

"Took some family members (7) for carvery at 4pm Sunday. Starters dried up , soup wouldn’t come out of jug so had to remove lid tip out . Just a lump of cold congealed mess . Bread rolls rock solid. Main was equally terrible , end of dried up turkey (server apologised) ham fatty and no beef. Veg and potatoes soggy and just leftover from early in the day . So greasy and cold . All got left . There was a table with breakfast food on it , ie, croissants, jam . Seeded muffing and granola. This is what my two grandsons ate . We complained to server , he laughed and said yes it’s left over from breakfast! Never ever in my 60 years have I had such an embarrassing and inedible meal . I’ve never ever left a negative comment on any site before but this was totally unacceptable. I’ve sent an email but not sure if I’ve sent it correctly. We spent a great deal of money on this meal and had to take the children to a fast food outlet on the way home . I was very upset as I had chosen this venue felt very upset embarrassed by the whole experience. Needless to say we won’t be returning or recommending this carvery experience. Someone seriously needs to look at the quality of food . Potatoes , supposedly roast where just white in colour and covered in grease . There was maybe 10 potatoes in the server and there was 7 of us in our party but we asked and told there wasn’t any more . Why we stayed I do not know . Several days later I cannot stop thinking about this meal and feel incredulous that we didn’t ask for a refund, probably just much to polite to do so ."
