"Wapentake feels like a proper cosy rustic Yorkshire pub, but with an enticing little selection of vegan cakes sitting on the end of the bar. With the relaxed atmosphere and long opening hours, it's a place you can go for breakfast, dinner, tea and cake, or a pint. In December, we tried out their vegan christmas menu, which was a bargain at around £15 for three courses (given that many places will charge double that). I don't think I've ever been so stuffed in my life each course was like a whole meal in itself! A huge bowl of delicious soup to start, followed by a glorious roast dinner complete with impressive vegan yorkshire puddings and nut roast, finished off with a giant wedge of chocolate tiffin. Seriously impressed. Plus the christmas tree in the corner was wearing a flat cap. On another visit though, we were really put off by a loud crowd of men shouting aggressively at a football match being screened upstairs, where we also happened to be sitting. That was very unpleasant, so unfortunately we'll be sure to avoid Wapentake whenever there's any kind of match on in future. Updated from previous review on 2018-08-17"
