"Menu was fairly limited and they had already sold out of sirloin steak surely a pub food staple by We ordered cod and chips which, to be fair, was good but despite our food arriving almost too quickly and being asked what we wanted for dessert when our plates were cleared, we did not see a waiterwaitress all evening. Noone came back to take our dessert order so we went without, we sat with empty drinks glasses and then had to stop a waiter to order coffee which was watery and weak. The meal was good value for money but only because we ate on the ‘Eat Out Scheme’ not deliberate on our part as were out for our wedding anniversary and would have paid full price. We have eaten at the Walnut Tree many times before but it lacked the warm, cosy intimacy of previous years maybe due to social distancing The restaurant seemed quite bare and sadly lacking in decor, character and atmosphere"
