"What a gorgeous little gem. Passing through Rochdale we wanted somewhere nice for a healthy pub lunch. This was a stunning little historic pub apparently fully a slice of the past, preserved on a tiny street with gas lamps opposite a huge church, beside a building that commemorates the start of the cooperative movement and is now a museum. As if that was not enough, the food was fabulous, fresh, beautifully put together — we had a tapas like collection of delicious plates. The beer was real ale and the staff we met were just so personable and friendly. We ate under a pretty tree in the back garden but there were lovely small saloons inside looking like something out of diagon alley. You have to go there if visiting Rochdale."
