"As visitors to the area, we narrowed down the choice of dinner venue between the Wheelwright Arms, and Combe Grove. Both local to our hotel. The Wheelwright was the safe option, and Combe Grove the wild card. As regular frequenters of a wide variety of restaurants in London, Surrey and Sussex, we liked the idea of taking the risk of going to a restaurant that was predominantly vegetarian, with meat/fish options, rather than the other way around as is the norm. What an inspired decision!!!!! We shared a snail starter, and followed it with Quail and Whiting main courses. All three dishes were creative, generous, nicely presented, and extremely good. We finished off by sharing a goats cheese cheesecake, that was effectively presented in a deconstructed form. Delicious and brilliant! With the food accompanied by a light Somerset Pinot Noir, that suited us perfectly, it made the meal overall a stunning success!!! I can say with absolute truth that the meal was one of the best we've had in a while, and a delightful surprise!!! If you find yourself looking for a restaurant in the Monkton Combe area.... choose the Combe Grove. If you find yourself trying to decide whether to go safe, or go wild card. .... Go Combe Grove. We did, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!!!! Bon appetit."
