"4 courses taking nearly 4 hours, sub-standard food as well as the establishment thinking they can charge £150 per person. We arrived just after 12 and were sat in a room that ultimately would contain around 34 persons. Not too much of a challenge one might think Bringing out the bread for the table (with some very nice vol-au-vents) took around 15 minutes. And then we waited for our starters, and waited until around 1pm. Whilst the starters were to an acceptable standard then the long wait began. It was not just us but the whole room. Eventually the main course arrived at around 2.45. Now I do not mind taking a long lunch but this was ridiculous. However, having flown half way around the world for a traditional Xmas lunch whilst in UK the quality of the food was worse than one can do at home. The turkey was not even carved from the bird, it was one of those roll things that is bought in supermarkets and had obviously been frozen as it was soo dry. Likewise the stuffing. The gravy was thin and watery and obviously not made with the cooking juice run-off. The roast potatoes were over par-boiled and under roasted. The Brussels had not been sliced at the base and as such the stems were underdone. I even had to ask the waiter for cranberry sauce (twice). The only redeeming feature was the quantity but the dryness of it all almost caused me to gag. It was also obvious that all tables were similarly suffering and one table left early after a contretemps with the staff. Then there was the appalling service. The 2 male waiters were straight out of an episode of 'Fawlty Towers '. When the coffee came and my wife asked for sugar I had to go to the servers to get him to bring….. and then did not even think to offer a teaspoon. When I asked them to remove a 4 foot cobweb hanging from the upper wall light they looked at me as if they did not know what I was talking about. After having tried to hurry along the deserts and coffee it was almost 4 hours before we could leave."
