"Before heading to Alnwick, we checked out some reviews of a restaurant that sounded fantastic. Unfortunately, the restaurant is currently only offering takeout, so we did not dine in. However, the food was truly outstanding. I have never tasted Thai cuisine that was so fresh before. It was my 50th birthday, and this meal honestly made my day. We ordered takeout and it was a memorable meal that we will never forget. To anyone living in or near Alnwick, if you are looking for fresh, exceptionally authentic Thai food that is bursting with flavor and will have you saying "nom..nom..nom" out loud with every bite, then this is the place for you."

"After visiting Alnwick Castle, we decided to stop by this restaurant. It had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with an outdoor seating area, perfect for those with dogs. We arrived just before noon and were able to enjoy the lunch menu, which was not extensive but offered something for everyone. My wife ordered the smashed avocado on brown toast and loved it, while I tried the corned beef and potato pie, which I believe was the best I've ever had. The coffee was also great. The staff were friendly and had a good sense of humor, as I discovered when jokingly suggesting the pie was from Costco - it was actually homemade. A tip for those driving from Alnwick: the entrance is on the roundabout, not the small lane to the right just before it."

"Drove from Newcastle for a lovely walk in Hulne Park to work up an appetite for the light lunch we had booked at Bari. Temperature taken at the door, all hygiene precautions followed. Social distancing strictly observed, including taking contact details. Soup with a cheddar and mustard scone was delicious. I had sweet potato and leek a combination I would never have thought of, but now may need to make it. Absolutely delicious. The roasted veg was equally delicious, and very filling. The cheese and mustard scones are to die for and huge! Nor do they skimp on the butter, which is always a (not so secret) niggle of mine. Be warned we booked for 1.15pm, and the soup was almost gone. Be early or be disappointed! For those with a sweet tooth, a delicious selection of cakes was on offer and ice cream is locally sourced. The menu includes tasting notes on all the teas on offer, which can also be bought in the little shop. The tea is served complete with tea bag tweezers and disposal container, and an egg timer. Customers are given instructions on the best amount of time to allow for the brewing of their chosen tea. The shop has testing jars so you can smell the teas to aid your purchase. If you are not a tea lover, other drinks, including filter coffee, are available. Perhaps not the best note on which to end, but the hygiene in the loo is amazing. Sanitising wipes are provided so you can clean the essentials after use (and before, if you wish) AND it is twinned with a loo in Africa. A fabulous touch so to speak. I highly recommend Bari for a real tea experience"

"We booked a table at the very last minute during a short visit to alnwyk. Staff were very accommodating and we dined early evening on a Friday. The restaurant was very busy however the staff were attentive and very friendly. Mussels starter on the specials board was superb and a huge portion. Main sea bass from the specials board was really good and the accompanying roasted vegetables were excellent. Speedy service we will definitely return"

"We were so impressed with the warm welcome, excellent menu and first class service that as soon as our starters arrived we asked our server to book us in again for the following night. The menu covers both their daytime bistro type offering with an a la carte selection which, while relatively small (around five choices for each course) made us wish we were staying longer so we could try everything. Starters were imaginative but the key was the quality of sauces with the mains. Good quality duck, chicken lamb etc had their taste well enhanced by sauces that nearly had us licking the plate. Portion size too was not neglected and overall it offered astounding value, with the mains typically around £20 which included a generous serving of fresh vegetables. Staff were just lovely and coped well with the external failure of their card machine and we enjoyed a chat with the chef at the end of the evening. Unfortunately Alnwick is a bit far from home for us to pop down but if we're in that area again we'll certainly be back."
