Another super visit to Ancora near the Rialto market. Excellent food and wine, really good friendly service. The Baccala Mantecato is one of the best in Venice and worth a trip just for that but so much more here to enjoy.

We went in search of a place to celebrate my mother’s birthday and found this gem. We walked in without reservations but they quickly accommodated us. There was a piano player that played everything from the jazz standards to pop classics. We ordered different dishes, but the winner was definitely the pasta in ink sauce. However all were amazing, we had the seafood lasagna, branzino, and the duck. Then for dessert crème brûlée. The piano player helped us sing happy birthday, truly a great night. After the music was getting a more party atmosphere and we left dancing out the door.
