"We live locally and this bar/bistro is trying very hard to succeed. We have noticed a vast improvement over the last year. The menu is now more limited but the offering is enhanced. We have visited on several occasions with French friends and none have been disappointed. Last visit chose steak and it was the best I have had in Europe for many years. The cheese board is superb value for 6 euros and serves 3 adequately. Don't eat desserts but they look great. House wine is eminently drinkable. Very dog friendly and always a warm welcome. The general appearance outside is also enhanced which makes it an extremely pleasant place to sit."

We loved this spotThe chef (a proud native son of Amboise) is inventive and entirely unburdened by French culinary orthodoxies.

Average food served...average choice...its a French Bar not a resturant which is reflected in the food and price also the house wine is a little rough. The setting and location are good and the owners are helpful and friendly, but they could do with more staff to help serve especially on the night we visited which was busy. The bar has a good atmosphere due to both English and French customers.

This saved our lives when we discovered our nearby accommodation couldn't serve us a meal. Smallish menu of the usual things but their set 3 course Menu of the Day (15 euros) on the blackboard was very enjoyable. Nice welcome by hosts. There were other British people there (obviously long term residents) which we would not normally have welcomed but, on this occasion, they were meeting for their weekly French lesson which we thought was admirable.

I needed somewhere to stay after going to watch a band after the local Brocante, the weather killed that off so I was left twiddling my thumbs deciding what I should do..Billie and Cliff who were running the bar offered me a room at their Bed and Breakfast. It ended being a great night in the village. Thank god for the room as after a couple of drinks, OK quite a few drinks I had a place to stay..Rooms are lovely and spacious, very clean, Billie and Cliff were great, ended up having breakfast with them as well.. Very welcoming, very friendly and very good.. OH an Cliff makes a great Black Russian...
