"Bashan is quite possibly my favorite Chinese restaurant in London and, having spent many years in China, I can say with little hesitation that it is quite authentic. Hunan cuisine is my favorite variety of Chinese food, and they do a great job. They have a lot of things on the menu that are common in China (and delicious) but are hard to find outside of China (especially different types of mushroom/fungus). The staff is very friendly and helpful, and can easily deal with patrons in both English and Mandarin. The decor is very quintessentially traditional Chinese and very nicely done. Whenever a friend visits London for some time, I always use the opportunity to bring them to Bashan. Also, it is a great place to go before the theater, as it is very conveniently located for going to them. Can't recommend it enough!"

Pork rolls and prawns for starters were great. It is genuine sichuan cooking which means mains are all about the sichuan peppers.

Delicious, high quality food and a great selection of dishes. Service is quick and helpful. Wine available by glass is nice and there is a much larger choice on the menu.

The service at this restaurant was unfriendly and difficult to flag down a waiter for assistance. The prices were relatively high considering the overall value of the food and experience.

Food was very average we ordered 3 mains and everything arrived lukewarm. Flavour was ok. The table next to us complained that their chicken tasted like it had been microwaved and was at different temperatures (from lukewarm to hot). Price was ok with 25% discount offer, however at menu price it is very expensive for the quality you get.
