"Ratskeller offers the customer a true taste of traditional german cuisine with a good selection of wines and a vintage fashioned service...absolutely perfect. Quality of food is at top level in the area and this is teh reason why prices are a little bit overrated comparing to the average, but the experience id worth a dinner.The atmosphere itself is warm and romantic due to the old building in which the restaurant is located. From this point of wiew Ratskeller is in the very centre of small and cool Kalkar village in the beautiful Markt Platz. Talking about the food, I would suggest a taste of traditional shnitzel with a good bretzel and a weissbeer...i think this is Germany on your table...But anyway they are even good at cooking lasagna (I can say that as I'm italian... and the soups are delicious. So, buon appetito!"

"today we ordered large portioned ribbed with pommes and dips (bbq and garlauch).We could pick up the food on time and what should I say...Very large portions and mega tasty! despite the minute drive the pommes were still crispy. the meat was super delicate and well seasoned.The staff was also very friendly.Many thanks and always happy."

"Wir waren heute auf Durchreise von Kevelaer kommend und haben hier einen Stopp zum Mittagessen eingelegt.Das Personal ist freundlich, der Speiseraum hell, nett dekoriert, einladend. Eine Gesellschaft war in einem anderem Raum untergebracht.Vorab gab es ein Amuse Bouche aus frischem Brot mit Tomaten Humus.Gespeist haben wir Schnitzel Wiener Art, mit Pommes / Bratkartoffeln, hierzu standen Pilz, Paprika und Pfeffer Sauce zur Wahl.Die Schnitzel waren nicht zu dünn geschnitten / geklopft, genau richtig, gut paniert, guter Fleischgeschmack, zart.Bratkartoffeln und Pommes knusprig und gut, die Sauce frisch mit leckeren Pilzen.Mit 2 Getränken und Trinkgeld haben wir knapp über 30 € gezahlt. Preis-Leistung Top! Besuchen!!"

Unfortunately, the tiramisu was sold out as an alternative was a very tasty, warm chocolate cake served. many thanks for the delicious food and the friendly staff! we will be happy to come back."
