"Chez Dang is a block up from the Landwehr Canal. I came in starving and hoping they could manage to comprehend gluten free. While the hot ponytailed waiter had no idea (very typical in Berlin), the woman whom I think may be the owner understood and actually had a menu supplement indicating what is gf and what could be modified. Thank you!! I actually ordered the special of the day, a yellow coconut curry (Gelbes kokocurry)that had red, orange and yellow peppers, carrots, onions, potatoes, light paprika, and a light sweet kick from pineapple, served with rice to absorb the broth, with tofu rather than chicken for protein. It was simple and delicious, not too light or heavy, and inexpensive, costing about 6 euros for the dish. The staff was polite and helpful. I sat inside to avoid smokers on the sidewalk (I don't know that there actually were any, but Berlin is like Paris in 1977 when it comes to smoking), and the small restaurant had nice little wooden tables feeling homey."
