"Nice location outside in a piazza but, all in all, a shambles. No menu. We were told to find it on the internet via a website. Antipasto a version of panzanella and chicken liver crostino were, well, rustic at best. The chicken liver was overpowering. Pici with duck ragu was almost inedible, the pasta massively undercooked with the texture of rubber. The duck ragu was overpowering. The only saving grace was a juicy suckling pig dish. Hence the 2 stars. Service was busy and friendly. Their strap line claims to serve the forgotten dishes of the Valdichiana. I would happily forget most of what we ate. You'll find similar cuisine, cooked with greater care, elsewhere."

We decided to stop for lunch along the way from Verona to Roma, the place it is just 5 minutes drive from the Highway exit Monte San Savino. Once seated we ordered, the owner is very nice, it took a bit of time to get the food however everything is fresh and hand made. It was a great lunch.

"I was for the first time in this place pushed by the great reviews and also by the word of friends who had enchanted me the excellent food, and sincerely or because the expectations were too high or because an evening not, we were not really excited. Starting from the premises, a beautiful historic house in the center of lucignano, used as a restaurant, therefore various rooms very well maintained but not very large and above all with a sound not very good, anyone speaking a slightly high voice and there were) is how they were at your table maybe a light background music could help the kind waiters, very young, and do not misunderstand me wide to the young! but they must be educated and followed, you can not eat the first course with the dishes of the appetizer/amouse bouche at the side, and not withdrawn even when it took away the dishes of the first course, I had to indicate to take them away, besides having to request the missing cutlery to the second course, besides asking both when it was brought, that while eating it, if there was always the pistachio inside the chosen dessert from me and the answer it is inside it is inside, but I finish all the dessert is inside not even the shadow of the pistachio.... he and I believe the room manager at the end apologized that the pistachio was finished and had not warned the waiter to communicate it at the time of order! but as de gregori said in a famous song β€œThe boy will do.....” if he is properly followed) because he is polite and very kind! good food but it did not excite me, cod and chickpeas sincerely I struggled to hear the cod, tartare, excellent raw material but the dressing available in the dish so and so, the ravioli and the pod of good pig, a little less the cheese of chestnuts, the dessert I would like to taste the original to judge better. what to say we will come back to understand if it was evening no or if actually the kitchen does not fascinate us. logically they are personal goals and suggestions in respect of those who work, but a pay and it is correct that you value the value for money....that at least this time has not been favorable."

"Since we travel a lot we visit a lot of restaurants, and this is one of the best we 've had the pleasure of visiting. It 's in a very old but beautifully restored building in Lucignano, Tuscany with rough-hewn beams on the ceiling and antique photos and artifacts decorating the rough stone and gleaming white plaster walls, while the white tablecloths, china, glasses and cutlery are modern and spotless. The chef/owner, Marcello Varignani, is cheerful and friendly and the food is superb. We were taken there by a friend who has a villa near Lucignano and so we had a full Italian-style dinner: appetizers, first course pasta dishes, second course meat dishes, and dessert, followed by coffee, and all accompanied by delicious wine from their amazing cellar. Since our friend was bringing us there for the first time he arranged for each of us to choose our preference for each course from the menu, and then had each selection divided into three portions so we could each sample every selection. Thus we all had an enormous variety of delectable taste experiences, ranging from a spinach souffle in a rich cream sauce to tagliatelle in a sauce with duck and truffles. We departed so stuffed we felt obliged to walk the circular main street around the inside of the city wall before returning to our car for the drive home, commenting all the way on the remarkable dining experience. One could readily consider moving to the area just to be able to enjoy dinner at La Rocca on a regular basis. I 'm sorry the review format doesn 't allow for a six- or seven-star rating, as La Rocca would certainly justify it!"
