"At first I thought: Very nicely raised prices! But after dinner it was clear: Perfectly justified! Amazingly delicious, had a salad Al Castello two, Dagmar a pizza Gamberetti and I a Calzone. Salad huge, with a wonderful dressing, is enough for two as an appetizer. Pizza dough a dream, fresh ingredients as a covering, there are no wishes left. Great praise also to the staff, the hut was full (open air on the castle), the girls have run off the hacks, and have always remained friendly. Have apologise that it took some time, not a miracle at full store. We just wanted to eat and not to Mittermeier, so we saw this relaxed. Thank you for the wonderful evening and the delicious food. At any time back there. Very recommended!!!"

"Das Essen war wirklich gut, leider mussten wir 2,5 Stunden darauf warten, da dieses Restaurant anscheinend nur eine Bedienung beschäftigt, obwohl es gut besucht ist, und um 21:30 war der Hunger dann leider auch fast weg .. zudem wurde uns ein falsche Gericht gebracht. Die Bedienung hat es dann zurück genommen, kam aber wenig später wieder mit der Aussage, das bestellte Gericht wäre ausverkauft und hat uns dann das selbe falsch gelieferte (und in der Mikrowelle aufgewärmte) Gericht noch einmal gebracht. Berechnet wurde uns dennoch das ursprünglich bestellte Gericht, das etwas teurer war.Wir kommen wohl nicht mehr."

"Popped into this pizza place soon after arriving in Kulmbach, for a quick bite to eat. A nice clean place, good for couples and smaller groups, as there are not really that many seats inside. pizza was very good, service was good. Would recommend."

"A visit to the birch is always worth every season! Not only in summer on the beautiful terrace, even in bad weather and cold days, you feel well here and are pampered with culinary treats. Already at the welcome you are aware that you are welcome here and the team is committed to having an unforgettable time. A table is offered, in addition to an aperetif the daily dish is recommended, the waiting time for drinks and food are absolutely tamed. It is also time to smoke a cigarette in the outside area. The food absolutely lace, wrought enough, moreover creatively designed with fresh ingredients, simply a palate!"

"Whenever we are close and it fits into the schedule, I like to come here with my family and enjoy some traditional franconian cousin. I can recommend the whole variety of Schnitzels and roasts you get offered here, the best I had last time was...a Bierhaxn, a Haxn served with dumplings, sauerkraut and their special sauce, made out of their amber beer. Ingredients always fresh, always specials and a smaller list with the food of the day. Special recommendation is the Bierzwiebel (beer onion), which is in fact a big onion, filled with a paste of seasoned ground meat and vegetables, baked for a crispy outside, served on top of mashed potatoes and a thick stripe of bacon, together with the beer sauce mentioned before. The other excellent thing here is the home brewed beer. Yes, home brewed. The standard kinds are the Helles (light colored) and the Bernstein (amber). Both are incredibly good and can be enjoyed in the beer garden, right next to the Mühlbach stream or in the restaurant while looking at the brewing kettles. You can also take home some of this beer in their wooden crates, holding five of the one liter bottles. Further more there is always a monthly changing special beer which you can order as a surprise. It varies from different kinds of bock beer, black, ale, pilsener and others. Last but not least you also have the choice between several home made spirits. These also change often and are produced in cooperation with local farmers. The kinds vary between pear and peach, Schlehe and berries or whatever is available for distilling. The taste is smooth and rich, not harsh at all, despite the high volume alcohol. Enjoy a break and have some good food and drinks!"
