"most recently I was visiting the Landhaus Kuckuck, with the highest expectation because of the Michelin Star of the adjoining Maitre restaurant. The food and ambiente was a serious disappointment and any future visitor shall be warned. First one enters the restaurant through the 'smoking area' where cigar smokers pollute the air. Then the waiters try to sell you a particular bottle of red wine before they even know the food you intend to chose. We had the crab salad (which was ok but nothing out of the ordinary), while I had the rabbit - undercooked/raw on the inside (inappropriate for rabbit), on a bed of pickled (sour) pumpkin, interesting, garnished with a drab, tasteless (far too sour) creme fraiche like sauce. All pretense, no substance. As a main course we went for the seasonal goose whose preparation was seriously poor. It was served in two portions, generally a good idea, but each was completely dry, chewy, garnished with a Maggi=like sauce unbecoming of any serious restaurant these days, with red cabbage from the glass, tiny Knoedel (ok) but no consideration was taken as to the differences between leg and breast meat - all equally dry and overcooked. It tasted as if it was prepared the day before and reheated. The chestnuts were equally poorly prepared, no finesse, a shame that the life of one goose (probably, given the small size of the portions each, subdivided onto several customers) was wasted for such poor performance. No proper wine recommendations. Nobody came to ask us during the dinner about whether we are satistfied. When I mentioned that the cook needs to learn how to prepare a goose afterwards, all waiters disappeared, no feedback possible. These people really don't want to learn anything and given that this dinner was expensive and supposedly to celebrate an important occassion, a deep disappointment. We were escorted out with handshake, faking a pseudo-familiarity while nobody made any efforts of improving performance. Nobody should be tricked by the past accolades of this restaurant and the Michelin testers should check this one out if they want to maintain a high reputation for their guide , a drab performance and a real embarrassment. Tellingly , there were only three tables booked during the whole evening we were there - and that during the pre-xmas season.If we had known we woudl certainly not have gone."
