"Wir waren zu viert das erste Mal in der Gutsschänke Schaaf. An diesem Samstag war in Winningen auch das sog. Höfefest, bei dem die ortsansässigen Winzer in einem gemeinschaftlich genutzten Hof Weine anbieten und zum Verweilen in netter Atmossphäre einladen. Aus diesem Grund war auch im Gutshaus selber keine Bewirtung und wir saßen in dem wunderschönen alten Innenhof, fernab vom fröhlichen Treiben des Höfefests. Die "Zweigleisigkeit" Höfefest und Restaurantbetrieb haben der Aufmerksamkeit und Freundlichkeit der Kellnerinnen keinerlei Abbruch getan. Alle drei Damen waren ausgesucht höflich, hilfsbereit und sehr, sehr aufmerksam. Das fanden wir wirklich toll.Die Karte ist relativ klein, Vorspeisen stehen nur wenige zur Auswahl. Wir hatten das Knoblauchbrot, die gebratenen Champignons auf Mango-Ruccola-Salat in rotem Traubendressing, frischem Parmesan und Croutons sowie das frische Brot mit Gemüse-Dinkel-Aufstrich. Alles war durch die Bank gut. Das Knoblauchbrot würzig mit schön zerlaufener, saftiger Knobibutter, die Champignons perfekt gebraten mit reifer Mango, frischem Salat und gutem Dressing. Der Gemüse-Dinkel-Aufstrich war ungewöhnlich aber richtig lecker. Dazu kräftiges, frisches Bauernbrot. Sehr gut.Als Hauptspeisen hatten wir Küferteller=gebratene Blut- und Leberwurst aus dem Rauch, Rostbratwürstchen und Kasslerrücken auf Sauerkraut, sowie Bratkartoffeln; Steak vom Durocschwein am Knochen gebraten auf Sahne-Lauchgemüse, Senfsauce und Bratkartoffeln; Tournedos vom Schweinefilet im Käse-Ei-Mantel auf Pfefferrahmsauce mit Butternudeln und Salat.Die Highlights waren das perfekt gebratene Duroc-Steak, das locker zwei Finger hoch war und das Sauerkraut am Kassler. Das war so gut, dass wir nachgefragt haben und siehe da: wir erhielten bereitwillig Auskunft zur Zubereitung. Nett!!Zum Nachtisch haben wir uns dann noch die geeiste Beerengrütze mit Vanilleeiskugel im Knuspermantel und die Vanillequarkcreme mit marinierten Erdbeeren gegönnt. Toller Abschluss.Wir waren hochzufrieden und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Vielen Dank an das Team der Gutsschänke für eine richtig schönen und stimmigen Abend."

"the burg caffe in alken fell on us while passing. it was afternoon, we had coffee. so we put our car on the mosel and entered the caffe. it was huge, some tables free. so we went first to the pie counter. crowds of tasty torts waited for the guests. not so easy to decide. Finally, we found that right for us. the friendly lady behind the tressen asked if she could give us the teller, because it was quite full and the services hardly came after. my companion took the teller. I went ahead and looked for a table. by chance, I saw how in the winter garden, with direct view of the mosel, just someone stood up. I was heading directly to the table, arriving there, he was already cleared by a waiter – a nice Italian, as we found later. he immediately took up our coffee order. so we didn't wait too long for our drinks, we brought the cake. outside it was raining, we sat inside, looked at the water and the landscape around. It was nice here. the cake was absolutely delicious, really recommended. I had also discovered a further theke next to the kuchentheke, where house-made pralins were sold, at a very good price for these delicacies. So I went to the sales room again to complete the visit and made a selection of delicious pralins compiled. I still have some, they are gradually eaten. Hmm... a pity that the caffe is so far away from home. the burg café is huge, with approx. 200 seats in different rooms. you also run a hotel, also for bus groups. the rearmost room is designed as restaurant, for house guests and visitors. the front rooms all have a beautiful view of the mosel. surely rather a mass operation. nevertheless we sat in the winter garden in a relaxed way. to the full of the guests is set, there is enough personal available. we have felt the average age of visitors – we have long since been beyond the 20: we can recommend a visit to the caffe. despite the fullness that speaks for the house, we didn't have to wait too long. the pralines should not miss."

"Very often and like to eat there. Today, after a good 2.5 years, once again ordered there. On the internet is 1.50! There is no mention on the phone that the delivery costs have risen to 5 euros. At the front door it is mentioned by the way that the delivery costs are 5 euros. If I had known that before, I would have taken the food myself. Curry rice tastes zero after churry but simply salted tomato sauce of rice completely and the sandwiches black! Pizza very dry and covered with vegetables. After today's experience, we will not eat anything from there anymore!"

"Went here to eat. We stopped because we saw this beautiful place with a very nice view. We were seated outside but unfortunately it started raining so we went inside to eat. The place is really very nice and well organized, the staff was very nice and very friendly with us. The food was very good indeed. We got two beautiful cutlets and the taste was really great. Plus we really liked their fries. We were very satisfied, in fact we will definitely come back!"

"Nach einem holprigem Start (hatte für mich alleine nicht reserviert und wurde von Chefin etwas „unwillkommen“ auf eine Wartezeit von mind 1 Std. hingewiesen! Tatsächlich waren es dann keine 15 Min. ! Mittlerweile habe ich von Einheimischen erfahren, dass Sie für ihren ruppigen Ton Stadtbekannt sei… wurde ich durch deren Servicekräfte sehr freundlich platziert und bewirtet. Alles gut! Die Karte hat neben einem Salat, einer Suppe und einem Carpaccio leider keine weitere Vorspeise! War aber auch nicht nötig! Das von der Kellnerin empfohlene Schnitzel scheint hier der Hit zu sein und war wirklich sehr gut und reichlich! Das Lokal hat eine frische, modern gemütliche, gepflegte Atmosphäre. Der Abend wurde noch nett und wenn ich als regionaler Restaurantbewerter etwas empfehle, sind es einheitlich ansehbare Outfits, statt Sportleggins…."
