"The area around Kottbusser Tor square is a gateway to various interesting Kreuzberg streets and while the square itself is unattractive and a bit run-down, the lively polyglot environment makes up for it. Right off the square, at the beginning of Adalbertstraße, you find the Kurdish restaurant Lasan which serves decent to very good food. A big draw is the Tandur-oven flat bread which arrived very fresh but somewhat lacking in taste. The vegetarian falafel plate was a stand out: excellent ful, tasty accompaniments - the usual suspects from humus and tabbule to tsatsiki (Caçik in Turkish). Another big draw is the wood-fired grill, so we ordered the large "family grill plate" - kebap, pieces of lamb and chicken, and lamb chop - all competently if a bit over grilled and served with flatbread (and rice we had ordered separately - Euro 1.50). The hot sauce and tsatsiki from the vegetarian plate did much to enliven the grilled meats. A separately ordered salad was average.Service is competent and prices reasonable. There are many interesting Turkish/Kurdish restaurants to be explored in Kreuzberg - Lasan is a pretty good start."
