"Locals recommended this village restaurant set back down a lane next to the main square. The restaurant is a simple local establishment for both the locals and tourists. It makes no pretensions to be anything else. Jean-Christophe and Patricia the owners are very friendly and...do their best to accommodate the needs of customers and children. The clientele is normally a mixture of local french tradesmen and professionals, English tourists and retirees and Dutch tourists and retirees. Whenever you see a lot of Dutch eating in a French restaurant it is a sure indicator that you are in a place of good value! The lunch meal is €12.00 per head. This includes a soup, a starter, a main course, and a desert or cheese plate. This is accompanied by a large Carafe of wine which is refilled at no extra cost. The system seems to work and has not been abused. The soups can be homestyle vegetable soups or wonderful fresh local Cêps mushroom soup when in season. There is normally a choice of four starters, which usually include a local country paté, a herring salad, a stuffed ham salad, etc. Usually there are two or three main courses. Jean-Christophe marries wonderful balanced sauces with his meats and serves a wide seasonal variety from hare to fowl, beef tongue to roast pork, without ever disappointing. The desert menu is usually a choice of five and normally includes a French crumble, the eponymous Flottant a chocolate desert and a lemon or fruit flan. The cheese plate is well stocked and left at the table for the customer to choose and enjoy. Patricia is the sole waitress and takes time to translate the menu and is always patient and charming. Jean-Christophe is always very calm and friendly even when the restaurant is stuffed to the gills. When you combine the service, the food and the price I think this is an excellent local restaurant."

must agree, great small setting and wonderful eating and service. degagnac is inconvenient, but this area is loaded with history, so stop one, follow the signs to this auberge it is a joy.

We found this restaurant quite by chance and were well received by the owners when we arrived. The food was very reasonably priced and of excellent quality. We were so impressed we are returning tomorrow night.

Brilliant 4 course lunch for 11Euro's including wine. The food is of a very high standard but don't expect anything but good wholesome food of the area. You will need to be a good eater to manage it all. Have been going there for many...years and hope to go for many more.

Staying with friends locally, we as a couple with young daughter came to this pretty restaurant. The lady that owns it is the only waitress and is run off her feet but is very attentive so the service was great. The amount of food given...for the price was also amazing but what let it down was the watery canned soup (hence 4 stars) but the rest of the food was lovely.

Just back from our second visit from this great little restaurant, we'd go again, except we return home tomorrow... So, if you're after something fancy then don't bother, but if you want good, basic food for a very cheap price then this is the place...for you. Four courses, including two bottles of wine and coffee for €28 in total for myself and my wife incredible value. Super friendly owners too and very attentive with the waiting. Totally love this place, but if you're a bit pretentious then maybe give it a miss, eh?

We saw the signs on the main connecting roads and thought we just had to find this Auberge as we'd read it had the best value meals in the district all true. While husband cooked, the madam served beautiful tasting local fare, with my...husband's vegetarian (and dessert) needs ideally catered for. We parked under the shady trees to walk around the centre of the village of Degagnac and ambled down the block to the restaurant of the Auberge. Sitting indoors or out, nothing disappointed in this authentic setting. The food is the treasure, but worth going even if you need a coffee

we could not mistake our wonderful family meal in a great location with parking close to. the service was exceptionally relaxed and attentive, without being intrusive. the needs of all, including children and vegetarians, were met with a smile and good humor. there were no complaints from someone about the food that was high quality and not expensive. such a pleasant surprise after all the problems of covid. our previous favorite auberge changed the hands, but worsened so much we no longer eat there. we are so glad that l’auberge sans frontiere has now taken its place as our favorite and is looking forward to many future visits.

Having visited this restaurant for the third time I thought that it was about time that note was made on their service and good food. The first two occasions that we ate there were as a part of a large group booking I never expect...too much food wise with these as it is difficult to put out a large number of covers at the same time and with good quality food , however one lady served all of us ! all the food was piping hot really delicious and we lacked for nothing amazing !! The third occasion was when we visited for a plat du jour this week,,again, great service and really good food . These people deserve to be supported and congratulated on a job well done !!
