"Beautiful discovery that this restaurant has taken over and renamed in August 2010, the Mont-d 'Or. Having lived in the neighborhood in my youth, I felt with his try this restaurant. The welcome is friendly and helpful. The framework is pleasantly decorated with nice tablecloths and a nice interior. The menu is very large and diverse, either for all budgets and tastes. Indeed, they offer both pizzas (also available to take away), pasta or risotto as well as meat, fish and seafood There is also a seasonal menu. At noon, two daily menus are offered (starters and main courses) for just under CHF 20 (nothing to say). Tonight, we laid our sights on a flat map of the season, a tournedos of beef Rossini (foie gras, truffle cream) served with gratin potatoes and vegetables or mixed salad. In appetizers, two large ravioli goat cheese are offered on cures mouth. Excellent, beautiful presentation. Salad is also very good and varied. The filet was excellently cooked and prepared with a large piece of foie gras. Very good and rich potato gratin. For dessert, the manager is showcased live with the desserts offered. Interesting because we can see what it will look like. Not disappointed, beautiful presentation, chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for your servant and caramel square for my guest. Cafes offered and served with small sweets (chocolate). Nothing to say much about cooking as soon as the service more friendly and professional. In addition the prices are cheap because the quality of food (CHF 38 for a tournedos Rossini is not expensive at all). Also excellent bread (not all the time the case, then to mention) In summary, excellent, I would return to test the pasta and risotto, which also makes me salivate. To recommend for to quality, price, and service."

I was at this restaurant for a business dinner. The place has a nice atmosphere and the service is generally good. The food is Italian inspired and the pizza was tasty. The value for money is the average for the Lausanne area.

I was not blown away with food or service. Will not advise to go there. It's quite average, the best thing we got is the ice-cream and it was not done by them : Quite disappointed as with previous owner it was really good. We had goat cheese salad, duck salad and pizza for kids. Pizza was really average and our salads were not anything but boring. Cannot say it was cheap either

The worst restaurant in which I have ever been. We have made a reservation, which the restaurant had accepted and not informed us of any problem. When we arrived, we were told the kitchen is closed and they ‘just decided to keep the reservation’. The waitress was extremely rude and showed no sign of willingness to help. If you have regulations, and at certain time kitchen is closed, you need to warn your clients. Come and eat here if you don’t mind rude stuff who have absolutely no desire to cooperate.

This was the first time we had been to this restaurant. There is a good choice of dishes. One of us is vegetarian and she chose the goat cheese salad. This was a little disappointing as it was only green lettuce (plus a couple of bits of tomato) with the cheese on toast. She had hoped for a bit more variety on the plate. On the other hand, the steak was very good. I had the chicken with mushrooms and wild garlic which was tasty. The chips were mediocre. The terrace is pleasant and the service attentive.

Very bad restaurant. My friend ordered a meat menu at will (50. . I ordered a plate of pasta (20. . . Knowing that my friend eats very little, I allowed myself to taste small pieces of each meat they brought him. They charged us with a surcharge of 25. for that, even though my friend didn't even eat half of the meat she was entitled to. Finally, when we were at the cash register and I refused to pay this dishonest supplement, the boss showed himself very threatening. My friend was afraid the boss would hit me. She insisted on paying the bill, including a dishonest supplement.

In a street with the same name, Le Mont D'Or, in Lausanne, offers you four daily dishes, ranging from 17 to 30 something CHF. Pizzas, Fish, Vegetarian Meat! You pick! I ordered a Paella and it was amazing! (I come from Hispania, I know my Paella! :D Flavours were so well balanced, the salty mussels, the perfectly cooked rice, the tender chicken...! I was delighted! Finishing such a glorious meal, crème brûlée, with that crispy thin layer, caramelized to perfection! Servings were truly generous, I was stuffed! The room is elegant and sober, lots of natural light, with shades that come down when too strong! : Nice terrace on the outside for those sunny days too! Service was refined and thought...

I had not been back to this restaurant for a very long time....like 20 years! Had a very agréable surprise, extremely friendly welcome, good food and an excellent selection of wines. The good thing about the restaurant is they have a very big terrace it might be near the main road but you do not notice the trafic and in the evening the trafic is light. They have some private parking reserved for the restaurant which is handy when you are in Lausanne. The food was very good, fresh and tasty, large portions and we were even asked that if we wanted more just ask. After a very enjoyable meal we got chatting to the owner who is originally from Bangladesh but has lived in Switzerland for a long ti...

"Au Charbon is family managed restaurant, set in a pleasant and quiet part of Lausanne, easily reached on the bus, if like me, you are touring. The restaurant is ‘cosy’ and the owners have maximised the number of seats available, which sounds like me...spinning a cramped venue but it actually works out okay. We had sufficient room to relax and eat without imposing on our neighbouring tables, so the efficient spacing added to the atmosphere and the wine waiter added character. The restaurant has a traditional pizzeria menu with no surprises with the choice of pizza, steaks etc. All our choices were well presented, cooked exactly to request and delicious. Portion sizes were just right too On the down side, the table service was very slow, it took around an hour for the first course and one dish was wrong when it eventually arrived but we put that down to being busy. The lady serving was also a bit too presumptuous that the change from the bill would be her tip and she didn’t return the change, eventually coming back to confirm if this was so. In summary, I enjoyed my meal and time at Au Charbon, they seem to have earned their reputation from being consistent in serving nicely presented dishes that are cooked well. The higher end options are a bit on the pricey side if you are on holiday, especially when considering this is a pizzeria (a steak costing CHF). However most restaurants of this type in Lausanne are similarly priced and it is what it is."
