"I'm not a big seafood lover but when you visit somewhere like La Tremblade you can't avoid it! A walk down this particular road is lined with seafood restaurants and trying to pick one can be difficult.Le Pilotis is slightly different to the others because the restaurant is set back off the road and faces back towards the land rather than out to the little river inlet. We were given an amazing table right by the window overlooking an oyster bed and able to watch the setting sun which was lovely. My husband - who loves seafood - chose one of the formulas. Three oysters, three prawns for starters followed by moules in the house sauce and a cafe gourmand dessert. The oysters were lovely - salty and fresh and served with a little lemon juice. But the prawns were the real revelation. Sweet and succulent they were simply stunning. My main course was a white fish fillet served with a warm sauce - I think it was the house sauce but reminded me of Canadian red mojo sauce. It came with sautéed potatoes, mashed potatoes and basmati rice. Really enjoyed that.My son - who is an outright carnivore - had a fillet steak with chips. He wolfed it down in no time - nothing was left behind!!My husband's dessert consisted of six mini desserts, a glass of vanilla run and espresso. All together the meal came to just over 80 euros. But it was a quality meal and worth the money - although my husband did feel he'd probably eaten too much when it came time for bed!!!"

We have visited this restaurant a few times. The food is always excellent as is the service. There was a very high tide the evening we were there it gave the feeling of being on an island. Unless it is a very warm evening would suggest sitting inside, it can be quite cool by the water

We had the €19.90 menu. Oysters or crevettes to start, delicious moules frites as main and a lavish cafe gourmand to finish. An salad ordered in addition was good but smothered in dressing so if you dont like it ask when ordering. Good service and happy to accommodate my friends' dog. Comfortable restaurant with lovely views.

We came across this area by accident and we were so pleased we did! Location incongruous. Quality of food superb. Level of service very good. Towards the end of a very long road following a small river. Felt like the boon docks . Watched the locals processing the catch as it was off loaded. Must return with a better command of French seafood language!

A lovely restaurant off the main oyster strip in La Tremblade. We visited on our last day of our holiday, and had the best mussels from the time we spent there. Juicy, fat and succulent. Their Pilotis sauce was a refreshing change from a classic mariniere more tomatoey but with excellent flavour. The oysters and crevettes to start were fresh and beautiful too. The children's menu was good with nicely sized portions, and the set menu including cafe gourmand is fantastic value. We look forward to returning.

I have reviewed this restaurant before but was back for lunch last week and thought I must update, normally here for dinner I had forgotten how pleasant it is to sit on the terrace here and smell the sea air whilst looking over the oyster Claires behind the restaurant. As usual Vero and her team made us welcome and we both took her recommendation of the dishes of the day, my wife had eels in parsley and garlic and I had monkfish in a beurre blanc with carrots and beans in the sauce. Both were fabulous ,This restaurant also serves the best oysters in the area supplied by Veronique's brother. One thing guaranteed I will be back

We have used this restaurant for a number of years and have always had a great welcome from Vero, Didier and all their team . Situated on the Greve (pier) that reaches out into the estuary of the Suedre from La Tremblade it was I suspect an old oyster producers cabin built over the Claires and part of the fun is watching the sun come down over the water . Excellent sea food ,do not miss the oysters Vero's brother is an oyster fisherman and they are great. For value for money try the 6 oysters to start followed by a sea food buffet A volonte ,i.e. as much as you want, Crabs, mussels ,Langoustines prawns shrimps cockles winkles and so on and on and on!!! great value for under 30 euros

Overlooking oyster beds this restaurant possesses an ideal ambiance for enjoying good food and wine. Several differently priced table d'hote menus are available. Following a superb saumon marine as an entrée, my wife opted for seabass (bar) as a main course and wasn't disappointed. An entire grilled fish accompanied by impressively presented vegetables was provided. I had an assiette de fruits de mer which proved an excellent choice and included tortue, langoustines, moules, amandes, crevettes roses, huitres, bulots etc. Wine is available in variously sized carafes or by the bottle. Staff are friendly and attentive don't expect too much English spoken so an ideal opportunity to practice your...
