"We had flew in from the UK and jumped the train down from Schönefeld airport, booked into the Park Inn Radisson Blu hotel and we were ready for a beer or two and after wandering around a little we came across Marktschenke, this is a proper locals pub we have been to on many a holiday to Berlin and it was a great place to start our 8 day holiday in this vibrant city. This is a proper old style pub,a lovely cozy rustic interior with lots of pine decor and furnishings and a superb beer garden out front looking out onto the busy and bustling streets around this wonderful pub.As it was a roasting hot afternoon we sat outside were a very pleasant member of staff took our order of a couple of beers and we opted to have that most German of beers namely Jever pils ,these were served in tip top condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just chilled out and soaked up the sun while enjoying our beers and planned out the rest of our day. The beers were outstanding,I love a cold pils beer and I must say you won't find a better poured pils beer in this part of town.We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Marktschenke is really easy to locate on Karl Liebknecht Straße in the Mitte district,it's not to far from the Magnificent Fernsehturm ( Berlin TV Tower ) .Opening hours are;Monday to Saturday,11am till Midnight. Sunday,Midday till Midnight. A great locals pub and one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area."

One of the few real pubs remaining around Alexanderplatz. Not spacious but good place for a pint or two.

Best Currywurst I've ever had. Nice and peaceful place in the very center of a busy city. Whenever in Berlin I try to stop there at least once.

We were walking around looking for something to eat but all the surrounding places seemed very overpriced. We got beers and currywurst and chips. The food was so tasty and the prices were really reasonable. Good beer and friendly staff.

I was actually searching for another place when i saw myself in front of it. The warm reception and the cosyness of the place made me stay. The bier was good and the schnitzel i ordered was very flavourful. All in all, a nice place to grab a bier and a bite View menu

There is nothing glamorous about this bar, yet it is popular with locals and visitors alike. With a basic menu of local dishes and a great selection of drinks, it has a relaxed, friendly and unpretentious atmosphere. We always make a point of calling here a few times when we're in Berlin.

We found this bar when we were aimlessly walking around Berlin and returned every day for the rest of the week that we were in Germany. It's a great little bar, clearly ran by family and not what you would expect to find in the middle of a busy Capitol city. The beer is amazing and a good price and although we didn't eat the food smelt amazing. It really is a hidden gem in the middle of the city.

Don't let the little graffitied shack fool you, this is a great little stop off for a quick bite and a beer. I had the schnitzel and chips which was delicious and my friend had bratwurst and bread which he loved. It's typically frequented by older clientele so the service can seem a little hostel but you just have to embrace it. There was a sweet old German lady who spoke to us for a while outside so you can experience a little bit of German culture in a central part of Berlin. View menu

Read the reviews on tripadvisor and went by with my three friends who all are meat eaters. Me as a vegetarian got the option "French fries or the salad" with an weird attitude and when I asked what's in the salad he just said "fresh salad....?". Perhaps a language barrier created a misunderstanding but i felt stupid for not ordering meat... My friends was not to impressed by the curry wurst and fries, but also without any experience of the famous dish. They still thought it was a okay lunch for a reasonable price.

I walked past the Marktschenke several times whilst visiting Berlin for new year 2014/15. After visiting it on my last day I regretted not going in more often. The bar / diner is not that big but it's not cramped either. My son and I sat at the bar and the bar keep greeted us with a friendly smile. We ordered curry wurst ( German grilled sausage and a delicious mild curry sauce) , fries and two Berliner brand beer. I spoke what little German I know and it was sufficient to place my order. A lady took the order and disappeared to make our lunch. Ten minutes later it was served and was delicious . Soon afterwards we were joined by the rest of the family who also ate and had a drink. All of us...
