"Food itself was fantastic and could not fault. But the overall experience and service does not fit the hefty price tag. We had three courses and were there nearly 3.5 hours! We had to chase our mains as we had waited so long and told our desserts were delayed as we were at the “end of a long dessert queue” (we did not see any other tables eating dessert). Unfortunately, this isn’t something you would expect in a restaurant with this price tags and so few tables. I will reiterate the food was great and love the concept of everything being local or British. But unfortunately I will not be recommending here as there are other restaurants locally that are better value and much better service"

Amazing food, great service, not too intrusive. Front of house staff very knowledgeable. Very fairly priced I would easily paid more for the value. Thank you Ryan and Liam and the rest of the amazing Orwell’s team for making our night special.

First time visit and made very welcome. The courses were beautifully cooked and did not disappoint. The additional tastings were very tasty, especially the smoking job (you need to try it to know what that means, spectacular. We were well served by informative, friendly and confident staff. You get what you pay for and it was worth every penny!

We treated ourselves tot he full tasting menu which was 10 courses. Each dish is limited in size but the quality is outstanding with amazing flavours packed into each one. We started the evening in the garden which is delightful, we were lucky to have great weather. Halfway through the dinner we moved in side. The staff are excellent and very accommodating. This is a very special restaurant and those willing to pay for excellency will be very hard pushed to find better anywhere in the UK.

Such a pleasure to eat food that is easily comparable to the likes of La Colombe in Constantia and Franschhoek, South Africa. Amuse bouche, bread service and sweet treat at the end were all delicious and a lovely addition to the meal. If I were to fault anything it would the roast potatoes but this is not only an Orwells issue but most establishments who offer roast potatoes on their menu. They always taste like a cold potato warmed up. I would go back in a heart beat and recommend to friends.

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"
