On visiting Matera we parked at Parcheggio Via Saragat which is a secure underground car park about 20 minutes walk to the Sassi old town, as we needed lunch we found Osteria 84 the service was very good and the food was fantastic would recommend and the price's were fair.

se si vuole mangiare piatti tipici materni è il posto giusto. la cucina dell'osteria 84 stringe l'occhio alla tradizione Lucana ma il suo cavallo da battaglia è lo sguardo al futuro con piatti unici e speciali. Gestito da un team giovane e dinamico, cosa dire sarà una tappa fissa ogni volta che torno al meraviglioso posto chiamato matera. Per dimenticare la sua forza oltre l'eccellenza della materia prima è il giusto costo consigliato.

We wanted to have dinner at Osteria. We arrived a little early so we waited 15 minutes outside. When we went in the lady first wanted us to wait longer but her colleague told us to sit down. We had a very nice dinner. When we asked for dessert, it got a bit weird. The waitress asked fruit or chocolate. We wanted chocolate so we could choose between cake, tartufo and ice cream. We asked for tartufo not knowing what we would get. She asked hot or cold. We asked hot. We got a scoop of chocolate ice cream... it wasnt bad though.

We were in Matera just for a few hours on our last day of our 14 day trip to Italy, so we were looking for something special, worth remembering but also distinctive from what we have already tried! We came across Osteria 84 and ...Bingo! What a great experience!!! The style of the restaurant was casual and the service quick and helpful! The food was delicious, we tried everything from pasta to pizza, and it was all great and sophisticated flavor-wise! A restaurant that is preferred by the locals and is all about the taste! We strongly recommend it! View menu
