"One thing I long on vacation is Afternoon Tea. This is my first and it was excellent. Local jam and vegetable cream with scorpion without butter. They also serve hot drinks with soy or oat milk. The staff was so friendly and when I asked how they made the Afternoon Tea vegan, they were just too happy to share. They are known about veganism. The terrain is breathtaking and worth a visit. Off the beaten track so we would never have discovered this gem without Happy Cow! Worth a visit."

Blown away by how nice this was. Stumble on it completely by accident after a walk and it was like walking into Hobbiton! Great vegan options too!

Lovely cafe not far from the harbour. Had a really tasty curry washed down with a glass of Quantock cider Might be an idea to book, particularly if you're going to Wachet Wednesday market.

This is the most perfect tea shop you could imagine. It's a beautiful thatched cottage in a paradise of a location. The coffee and home-made cakes were the best I've had in years. The staff are friendly and welcomed our dogs too! A fantastic place.

Well organised with quick service, lovely views and delicious cream teas. Be sure to give the Whortleberry jam scones a try. There are several lovely walks in the area to help work up an appetite and various Chocolate box cottages around the green to see.

had the double skorn and sawneee with hurtleberry jam. I haven't tried this taste yet. it was all very tasty and a beautiful teekanne to wash it. the whole area has a feeling of days past and it is a very peaceful place to make a break. nice to sit outside in the garden.

my mother and I sat outside on the first warm early morning for lunch. I can say the hands down that this charming little tea room had both the best suppe I've ever eaten (a creamy brokkoli and stylton) and the best scones I've ever had! we were both blown away and we're talking about it a week later. would recommend 100%!

Stunning building with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff. I enjoyed the vegan dish, it was not too generous in size, but included two slices of cheese and two Quorn slices, celery, tomatoes, grapes, grain bread with vegan Mayo spread, plus onion relish. There were no other hearty options, but many cakes a cream tea on the menu.

if they have never been in selworthy green, they lack a contract. it's like you're going back in time or into a fairy tale! we had luck, we had a nice sunny day it was quiet. periwinkle cottage is perfect for a light bite. the personal was friendly, the menu quite wide for cake, scones cream tees. eating was nice, a perfect way to spend a afternoon.

I had a suppe on the side that was just as delicious. tees were beautiful and everything came soon after our order. the staff was wonderful and friendly, also very helpful in ordering. combine all this with a beautiful location and they should have a truly stunning experience. also dog friendly.

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
