"I have Celiac disease and need to eat gluten-free. My family and I were visiting Oxford from New Zealand and were unsure of where to go for a meal that would accommodate my dietary needs, as we have had difficulty finding good gluten-free food during our two months in the UK. We came across Pieminster, which advertised gluten-free pies, so we decided to give it a try and we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered a delicious chicken, ham, and leek pie, while my husband and our friends enjoyed variations of the Moo pie. All four of us were pleased with our choices and would consider returning if we were in the area again. I saw some comments mentioning that certain pie options were not available or that there was a wait to be served. Although some pie options were unavailable, there were still plenty of other options to choose from. The staff member who served us informed me that I would have to wait 15 minutes for my pie, which was not a problem, and when it arrived, it was hot and crispy (which can be a challenge with gluten-free pastry). I was unaware that Pieminster is a chain of stores, but if the others are as good as the one in Oxford, I would highly recommend them."

A great place for lunch. There are usually at least 2 vegan optionsand the mash is vegan. Definitely worth a try.

You no what you're getting here a good variety of pies, well cooked; mash, mushy peas and gravy. It has a magnetic attraction while lugging shopping bags around the market.

A disappointing experience no vegan mash available at the time of ordering nor any mushy peas. The jackfruit steak and ale fillling was ok but the pastry was too dense and chewy. View menu

excellent quality eating. early in the day is quite quiet. it is in the covered market, so google maps was not all that helpful. excellent choice including vegan and vegetarian options.

On our final day in Oxford, we decided to get a quick bite to eat without waiting. The pies were delicious, but a little expensive for the portion size. The restaurant had limited seating, so it's best to find a spot outside the store.

We had both the β€˜Kevin’ pie and the β€˜Ghana-Rama’ patty. Both were great, although I found the patty a bit spicy for my tasting. My boyfriend loved it. Would definitely recommend getting the β€˜Kevin’ pie, great name as well as great taste! View menu

about this great cake and maischeplatz in the covered market mute. they have a large selection of cakes available, including vegan and gluten-free options. there are also seating (bench-style) or they can take along. definitiw is worth adding some maic and gravy to their cake.

The vegan pies are a good size and you can get a side of vegan mash and gravy! The person working at the counter was very kind and knowledgeable about the vegan options. I’m really happy with the meal I ordered β€œmock-a-doodle” with vegan chikn, leeks, smoked garlic, white wine mash/gravy) and it’s going to keep me full for quite awhile!

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
