Pontygwindy Inn - Menu

I hadn't visited this restaurant for a while, but came back around 6 weeks ago for a meal. The food has improved significantly and now my colleagues and I make it a weekly tradition to stop by for burger Tuesdays. I highly recommend it.

Amazing pub, great food, great staff! Ange is also amazing and always happy to help with anything! Lewis in the kitchen always a good laugh, and amazing food, Tavis and Rhiannon always happy and cheerful behind the bar and great service overall! Couldn’t recommend enough!

Went for a evening meal and drinks , all our food was superbly cooked, and served excellently, the drinks range is wide and something for everyone. Spoke to the staff and landlord Shaun who were all extremely polite and courteous. The pub is very clean with rustic feel and perfect atmosphere. Best place for a nice meal and drink in Caerphilly. Went here today for a Family Christmas Festive 3 course meal and what can I say it was absolutely amazing. The food was cooked to perfection. The service was amazing the staff are just so friendly as they are always. Was a pleasure to take all my family here as they are not from the area and they all went home very happy. Looking forward now to my works Christmas meal here now soon

Dispite being empty, we Waited over 30 minutes for starter then the Starters were wrong and had to be returned. No one came to clear any glasses from the table the whole time we were there, we had to ask for them to be cleared medium rare steak was overcooked. Plain burger did not arrive plain... No table service, had to get up and go to order drinks even in the middle of eating. Not at all as good as the place used to be. View menu

We were extremely disappointed with our Christmas day meal at this restaurant. The soup was barely warm, the butter had melted onto the plate, and the bread was soaked in it, clearly having been left under a hotplate for too long. The main course was passable, but the dessert was a mess. The service was slow and poor, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. When we asked for an Irish coffee, we were told they didn't sell them. Thankfully, we were able to laugh off the experience, but after dining out on Christmas for the past 30 years, this was by far the worst meal we've ever had.

Arrived and shown tot the table promptly, left with a menu but not the one for Sunday lunch. Fetched the Sunday menu and waited to be served as we were not told any different (last time it was table service in the restaurant). After a while we went to the bar to order and told no beef left, only chicken or turkey, ordered one of each and then told only turkey left. Ordered 2 and extra roasted potatoes, food arrived 30 min later and was cold/lukewarm with no roasted potatoes, told the server and said they would be 10 minutes. They turned up hot on the outside and still frozen in the middle. We paid the bill and left.

Decided to pop out for some lunch today, and my gosh what a lovely friendly environment. Service was excellent, All staff were smiling and polite no matter the customer!! Despite our lovely afternoon, it was such a shame to see two men shout and be so rude to the young girls at the bar. We were sat near to where everything was being said, and were very impressed with how the management team handled the situation, especially with how abrupt these men were being. It was such a shame to see the staff intimidated when all they were doing was being friendly and trying to resolve a situation. Overall lovely experience, hope those two are banned and cause no further issues. View menu
