"We had a lovely evening here at The Porto Rico. We arrived quite early for our reservation but were seated immediately without any problem. The food was fresh, nicely prepared and plentiful with a great selection of meats offered to table. The salad bar and sides were well stocked with a variety of options. I wasn't too sure of the contents of some of the dishes but since I don't have any allergies and enjoy trying new dishes this wasn't a problem to me. The staff were very friendly and ensured we enjoyed our evening. Excellent value for money and I would happily return here again."

A new experience for us, walking in we were welcomed into a friendly restaurant whose staff could not have been more accommodating. A very social place to eat. Look forward to a return visit.

Not the usual Brazilian eatery. The food was not good, meats were burnt n not very tender. Ambiance is poor, small place, but staff are good n service is ok. Not very pleased with the food, but the dessert of coconut cake was excellent.

You have to be prepared to be patient as the meat doesn't come out all in one go particularly when they're busy. We started with gammon at around 7.50pm then moved through pork, chicken, sausages ending up with steak sometime after 9pm. However the hot and cold buffet tables are constantly replenished and the Caipirinha cocktails make the evening run very smoothly! the waiting staff are great and nothing is too much trouble.

You have to be a carnivore to love this but as long as you are it’s fabulous. We like to go when we have time off at home as it always brings a real ‘holiday vibe ‘ to our week! Our only slight criticism is that they are very cagey about telling you prices when ordering drinks. No menu. The waiters advice over wine and beer choices is, I’m sure, meant to be helpful but comes over as pushy. It’s not expensive either, so makes things unnecessarily awkward.

"Used to be good, but had a poor experience last night. We went as a family of four and had a meal in the left bank restaurant. The table service was quite poor and the bill had a £13 service charge slapped on automatically. The total bill was £126 plus tip, making £139. I left £130 truly believing it was sufficient under the circumstances. The waiter came back twice saying it wasn't enough money. I explained once that the service charge was optional and that I have left enough including an appropriate tip. This was rejected and the waiter again insisted I pay the full amount as it was not enough. I explained again about the tip. He came back yes again to query how I would make up the shortfall in the bill. I was forced to stand my ground and insist in front of everyone that I wasn't paying the full tip. Automatically slapping on £13 tip for poor service is one thing. To then repeatedly question and confront a customer over not paying the full tip in front of everyone is quite another thing altogether. I left the restaurant feeling both humiliation at the confrontation but also annoyance knowing that actually I was right. The tip is optional, discretionary, and voluntary. Putting it automatically on the bill could be seen as a helpful reminder, thank you, if you want to see it that way, but repeatedly insisting it is paid and that I have made a mistake in leaving a smaller tip and ignoring my explanation is just plain wrong."
