"The overall cafe seemed mismatched and dirty. I ordered a hot chocolate and it was very weak so they maybe stingy about using chocolate powder. I also ordered a bacon sandwich; it arrived on some average bought bread and the bacon was fatty and under cooked. The service was very slow and we did not get serviced until after 20 minute of waiting. When it came to paying the lady was very rude (almost aggressive towards us) and it seemed she wanted us out quickly. She was using the tip bowl to give us change which gave a very unprofessional look. I would highly recommend any other cafe in lindfield, and i will not be going to this cafe again!"

Wood block tables and a variety of pictures around the walls gives this the “vintage” feel. Like the simple menu and the personal service.

Excellent food and coffee, thoroughly recommended. Freshly made and good portions. Ideal if you just want tea or coffee and cake but also serve meals.

Popped in for lunch with my husband and daughter. Such a lovely tea room with friendly and attentative service. Lunch was delicious and served quickly. A great choice of cakes but the brownie was to die for! We will definitely return and would recommend a visit. View menu

Visited with a toddler. She was given colouring pencils and a copy of an artists outine of the actual tea room itself. Such a great touch. We had scones and a brownie. Both fresh and delicious. Lady who runs the tea room is welcoming. We will be back. Babychino was the perfect temperature and was free.

Stopped off at this amazing village cafe on Sunday for a light lunch. The service was quick, the quality of food was very high and all sourced locally. The sandwiches were freshly made to order and drinks tasted amazing. I will certainly be stopping here again when passing the area (even if a little detour is required, well worth it)

My wife and I are weekly visitors to this lovely tea shop with its friendly staff. The food is all home made and the coffee is the best for miles around. We held a private function there for my 75th birthday, a super special high tea. Madi and Leslie could not have been more helpful in fulfilling all my culinary hopes. It was a delightful occasion and our guests still talk about it and want me to hold another one there soon!

We came here for a spot of lunch after going to Ardingly for the crafts for Christmas show. This is a very very beautiful village with some very sweet little shops. The tea room was pleasant and a reasonable menu, unfortunately, we were unable to have any bacon or sausages because if it all sold out. In the end I settled for a jacket potato and my husband for ham salad sandwich both of which were very nice. We did not isample the cakes as we are quite full up but we are informed by a local shopkeeper but they are delicious.

"We go to Gravetye 3 or 4 times a year if we can and have been going for many many years over the tenures of several owners. It 's always a complete joy, and the current owner has done a fabulous job of getting the right people in, both inside and out. Tom Coward, the Head Gardener (ex. Dixter) has a vision and a long term plan that make continual visits over an extended period a joy every time we visit we are surprised by the continual changes we learn so much and the garden staff are super helpful and willing to discuss what they 're up to and why. The amazing oval massive kitchen garden that supplies the hotel is a source of wonderment and not to be missed. A visual and culinary feast. We 've never stayed there as we live reasonably close, but have eaten in both the old and new dining rooms many times. The new dining room sits harmoniously between the wings of the manor and although a very modern glass and steel construction, the inclusion of a fabulous antique (and uneven) parquet floor (ex. some french chateau) softens the feel and acoustics, making the room almost intimate. The floor to ceiling windows bring you right into the garden, even in the foulest of weather it 's a triumph of design. Then there 's the food. Apart from the presentation, which is exquisite, the flavours and textures always bring a broad grin, however grumpy I am! This is absolutely first rate British cuisine; the kitchen under Head Chef George Blogg is to be commended, as are the garden staff producing the freshest of produce. I occasionally try to photograph the plates, but invariably find I 've forgotten that rather crass move and have just launched in! Must also mention the front of house staff. Perfectly presented and mannered, they know exactly the boundary between staff and guest and make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed there is nothing stuffy or obsequious about Gravetye everything is pitched just spot on and nothing is too much trouble. We were there today for a birthday treat, but will be back again soon for a post family wedding get together. Cannot recommend too highly just an excellent few hours, whatever the weather. Walkability: Lots of paths. The lower areas are easy for those with limited mobility, however it might be tricky to get up to the kitchen garden if you 're not great on your feet. Food drinks: See my review."
