"The hotel Die Sonne Frankenberg has three options for eating; restaurant Philipp Soldan (which based on it's ratings is probably one of the best in the area), the Sonne Stuben and the Philippo bistro. We had originally wanted to eat in the restaurant Philipp Soldan but it only opens in the evenings and since we are currently reliant on public transport, it was not really feasible and we would have been quite restricted on time. So, we decided to try the Sonne Stuben at lunchtime. First impressions were good; classy interior, quiet atmosphere, plenty of space between the tables and generally a very pleasant place to spend a lunchtime. We had already perused the menu on the internet before arriving and the actual menu followed very closely to the internet list. Unfortunately one of my favourite dishes, Himmel Und Erde had just been removed from the menu but the were plenty of other traditional and speciality dishes to choose from. A complimentary bread selection was provided prior to the main course arriving.Suspecting that the main courses would be of fairly generous proportions, we refrained from having starters. My wife chose a veal dish - a substantial cut of meat served pink and complimented with sweet potato fries (standard potato fries were also available). I chose the braised local venison served with hazelnut spätzle. The venison was very tasty but slightly over-cooked for liking. I tried some of my wife's veal and that was cooked perfectly.'Open wines are served from the bottle and these are kept in a large ice bucket in the centre of the restaurant. I like this - you can out the bottles before ordering and you know exactly what you are being served.Waiting service was friendly but just a little in-attentive. There were long periods when we saw no staff at all.So, if the venison had been served a little rarer and service slightly more attentive ( I don't want staff hovering behind me)! I would have given this restaurant a well deserved 5 stars. We are both looking to trying it again and might book a night in the hotel so we can also try the Philipp Soldan."

also as a second restaurant, the sun stubs make a good figure. a floor-to-ceiling kitchen - taste-intensive and perfectly prepared - never leave the idea to look outside the house his luck. where the sun is on it, it's in it. View menu

The terrace is located between Fachwerkhauses and the old Rathaus. Nicely lit with candles and comfortable tables and chairs. The Service is very friendly and dedicated. The food is made with care and looks beautiful but tastes even better. I had braised Hirsch on a bed of Vegetables

the opposite of the edersee is certainly not the culinary epicenter of Germany. The (hotel)restaurant is all the more enjoyable and quiet in Frankenberg.A varied menu and a well-stocked wine-card have their price, but it is worth visiting. The variations from saibling (starter) and the rehfilet are particularly recommended. the supplements are a bit off, but the friendly service makes the easy bet. View menu

we were to be hosted with business partners from far east. After we got the pre-reserved table, we were served very courteous and friendly. a gast wanted to eat vegans, which at the service initially revealed some unsafe, but after consultation with the kitchen could be immediately clarified.A amuse guelle from the kitchen initiates the pleasant evening. the card is not too extensive, which I personally appreciate. the wine card is also scarce - here I find a little more choice in the open wee (who can empty a whole bottle today(!)...appetizers were visually appealing and very tasty. they also came for all people at the table at the same time. The main dishes were very tasty and also in the d...

we were looking forward to eating in the sunrooms, as we were very happy last time. Friday, the business lunch with Red Bete and wolfbarsch lured us on ebly with fennel. attractive price: 12.90 euro. we sat in the cozy jagd room, were very friendly. unfortunately the young man forgot to bring us the amuse gueule. He didn't think about it until he served us the Red Bete soup. the amuse gueule consisted of three different broth varieties. there were red-bete butter, soaked oil and creamy cheese. excellent! also the Red Bete Coat, served in the glass, was excellent. the main course fell significantly. the fish was not fresh, ebly and fish were hardly spiced, only the glazed fennel tasted very g...
