"Probably the largest pub garden I have ever seen The Prae Wood Arms is located just before you enter St Albans if your commuting South bound. Be careful not to miss the turning, but as you enter the property you will see the gorgeous converted old Manor, or what us to be a Manor. The only reason I haven't given them 5 stars is because we haven't tried the food from the restaurant. We did eat from the bbq that was cooking up a storm in the garden on the day though. As for the pub itself, it's like walking back in time, literally no place like it really. Great choice of drinks and craft beer and the menu is extensive as well, but in all honesty the garden really separates this pub to the rest in the region. Always worth a visit and definitely in the summer for kids as the pub garden is like surrounded by woodlands and has a tractor that they love to jump for a picture."

huge outside area and fast service. good if you have children. helpful and friendly staff. the entry is hidden, since the pub is not on the street, they could use more characters to advertise themselves, it is easy to miss the turn.

Lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Serving typical pub food. Food does let’s it down a little. Roast was not the best with meat a little dry. However fish and chips were good. Prices were reasonable. Roast £15-£20 cheapest main was burger £14

The service at this restaurant is excellent. Unfortunately, there were no parsnips available for the Christmas dinner. The price per person is between £30 and £40. The food is rated a 4, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 4. I recommend trying the Sticky Toffee Pudding.

The food and atmosphere were fantastic! We ordered the fried seabass (boneless, a great addition) and roast chicken, both of which were perfect. The triple chocolate brownie was also delicious. The weather and Sunshine added to the overall experience. Will definitely be returning!

I was slightly disappointed to find that the only vegetarian option available was a curry, and it was a stereotypical one at that! However, I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and delicious it was! I would definitely return to enjoy this dish again. The standout dessert on the menu was the vegan chocolate torte with ice cream. It was excellent value for money, and I left as a very satisfied customer!

This charming pub is located on the outskirts of St Albans, offering both indoor and outdoor seating areas along with a spacious beer garden. The menu is updated daily on their website, ensuring that all nutritional needs are met. They also have a separate gluten-free menu with a variety of options. The parking lot is ample, but may fill up quickly on sunny weekends. Additionally, the pub's website provides a link to a nearby hiking trail for those looking to combine their visit with some outdoor exploration.

The location is beautiful and its a lovely building. There is also ample parking which is great. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I have visited a few times in past year and the food has always been good. Unfortunately though the service always seems to be slow. on the first few visits I put it down to them being busy and various post covid issues however I have also visited on a weekday when it was quiet and it was still very slow. They took a while to come and take the order and the food took forever to come. We were also left with dirty plates for approx an hour. The staff were very pleasant and there was a few working it just felt like it lacked in organisation. Its just a shame bec...

This pub is lovely. The staff, decor and the ambience is welcoming and cosy. They have a lovely roaring fireplace which you can sit next to and enjoy a drink. We had the turkey roast and the vegetarian mushroom, chestnut and lentil Wellington. My husband said the turkey roast is one of the best roasts he had ever had. Everything was fantastic. The Wellington and trimmings unfortunately lacked flavour but was a very generous portion size. We also had mulled wine which is some of the tastiest mulled wine we have had. For dessert we had a scoop of honeycomb ice cream and the sticky toffee pudding which was pretty standard. The portion of the pudding is very generous portion but the ice cream po...

"Yammin-Yummy says. ... 5 stars ... also a rarely awarded- 'beezybonus'. . . now, where do I begin to begin with such an amazingly appealing selection of freshly prepared foods that one would naturally expect that, already cooked, sitting, waiting for the next hungry expected customers. this can sometimes cook up to 10-20-50mins before they are placed in front of them. not here. freshly cooked. now this beautiful example of a traditional 'fish chip love affair, established over generations of Friday nights, was beautifully designed to tell their mouth, tonge taste panties, please attach their belts, and then it is about them an incredible arbor ride. ... one who seems to go up just as once they decided what's going in their mouth first (at least the crispy tail end) begins their incredible journey up; as their eyebrows increase during thinking, omg that 's sooo different good, light, crispy teig as I've never tasted in my 37 years since the beginning in the food industry. And then I made the mistake of dipping my squid in the homemade tartaric acid sauce. that is when the 1st massive fear happened, as I thought, oh my days; the better then mean, re-entry, deeper, actually cure my wrist action, to ensure maximum absorption of this sweet/creamy/tart/caper filled taste, as I reached for a chip to accompany, strengthen the excellent experience I thought stupid would be a 'standard thing'. Now I took care of you like this, but I have seen on my chips a few each mouthful was an experience, depending on how I stacked the fork, hahahaha. the fish was so fresh that I was looking on my teller sand. ... to dedicate a joy to each chip. ... the muddy heaps, normally warmed, not microshaft to a mass-hotter-then-the-sun, went a tasty bite, and quickly also, for once. the lemon shattered haddock had to be tied to the plate, because this teig was so light that it almost raised to the deck. but as soon as this handmade tasty tartaric acid sauce meets, any responsible 'handler-of-the-fork', wants to make sure that its only trajectory can be swallowed in their waiting swallow. It was so good, I couldn't stand to leave a single diesel and with this tartaric acid sauce, which even made a bulky chip, was nothing left, I was ashamed to ask the cook the recipe for 'this sauce', as he made such a light oil-free beautiful teig. the staff is very attentive, courteous, with a beautiful large sitting area also. get yourself here quickly bungalows to make an ordinary experience, in an excellent exciting eating expedition into a court that we all know so well, but so different. ... enjoy."

"Ever since they opened, I 've been for family gatherings, social events and dates and every time it has not disappointed. The staff are always welcoming and have a positive attitude. They are attentive, happily explaining the menu and how food should be ordered making recommendations. The menu itself doesn 't overwhelm with choice and is perfect for those with all tastes. There are plenty of veggie options and the wine is impeccably selected. The food is absolutely delicious and very well presented. The quality is evident. The portion sizes are perfect and not just stomach fillers (e.g. excess bread or rice). Every bite feels worth it. Please be aware that this restaurant is about sharing and each dish is made for it. There are no 'courses '. It 's about ordering the dishes you want and they will arrive when ready. With all the above in mind, this does mean that the prices are on the higher end and with alcohol you can expect to spend around £40 per person if you also include desserts (which are also incredible, especially the Creme brûlée). This might seem expensive, but remember, it 's about the experience, not just the food! Tabure is worth every penny in my humble opinion. If it 's just the two of you and you 'd like something different with a significant other, I 'd highly suggest requesting seats at the chefs table over looking the charcoal grill! It 's amazing watching the chefs work their magic and adds so much to the experience that most restaurants don 't provide."
