"Stopped by as on way back to London, waiting for the Waterloo train. had a very warm welcome from a lovely lady serving the customers. As a CAMRA member i was going to sample some Ales, i thought ill leave that until im home up smoke, so opted for a Guinness, absolutely Top Notch it was too, served lovingly with a careful hand the barlady crafted a shamrock on the Vicars Collar. So good, stuff the next train back home, stayed for another couple, Lovely and relaxing, proper pub, which gets my vote everytime, a breath of fresh air from the usual boring white washed Gastro Pub. Would defo return, next time i visit Amazingstoke, no hesitation here, im going in. Thanks to the lovely polite barlady."

Husband and I stopped off for some food. The Thai curry meal we both had was amazing. Lovely service too. Pleasantly surprised about the food as not very impressed with the restaurants in the town centre.

A nice pub with a decent choice of regularly changing real ales. The food is good although the veggie choice has declined recently. They hold regular beer festivals but the normal beers are a bit expensive for the area.

Came here prior to going to a concert. Ok beer selection and basic food menu. Service was not fast there was 1 person trying to do both serving the food and at the bar, so a lot of waiting. Average quality of food. Nice atmosphere View menu

A pleasant and obliging landlady, delicious Thai food, beautifully presented. The place is small and the tables therefore very close together, so overhearing the conversation of neighbours is inevitable and vice versa but go there for the food!

Popped in here for lunch today. The roast beef was delicious. All served with fresh vegetables and piping hot. I believe they have a new chef doing every Sunday now which is excellent news. Definitely the best Sunday roast in the town centre and superb value for money.

Possibly the best proper pub in Basingstoke. The beer is always well kept and they vary the offerings regularly. The chef is great and produces very tasty food at bargain prices. No pretence here, just a proper pub. Dog friendly and always good banter from the locals. Highly recommended. View menu

Before we all went on the train to Barnstaple to watch Basingstoke fc. We all went into the pub. Very nice people. Bar staff were very polite and my Guinness had a shamrock on it which I don’t receive anywhere. Nice few pints and friendly staff. Can’t get anything better. Lockdown happened so I will be returning soon

Went to the Queens Arms for a family Christmas meal. Menu choice looked good. Have been here before some time ago with work group and family birthday party and always had a good time and nice meal. Service was very attentive and prompt. Food was as stated and very nice. Very reasonable price. All covid safe measures taken with partition in place, masks, sanitisers and good spacing.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
