"A cosy pub with a lot of potential that is not met at the moment. We went there as a group of four, had different starters first, some of them (leek ravioli) really, really good, some very low key (dry forcacchia). Then the main meal came and it was a massive disappointment. We ordered pumpkin risotto and it was a watery soup without flavour and a few pumpkin pieces that were not roasted before. One of us even received only half a portion because they ran out of risotto. After we mentioned this, he got more risotto half an hour later- also watery, tasteless and sad. We also mentioned the bad, bland taste and none of us could eat the meal. The only statement we got was: Sorry, we recently changed the menu. We still had to pay full price and did not get any nice sign of compensation (such as an apology or a free desert). This is a pity because the location, the interior and also the selection of foods is really nice on the first gaze."

Great food and atmosphere here. Just be mindful of not sitting too near the bar area on a busy day if you want a quiet conversation. People can congregate near the bar. Wasn't an issue for us personally but useful to know if you've not been before. Would definitely come back again.

5 stars because it was a lovely place, clean, staff very helpful large carpark and great garden. I did Not eat there so my Star ratings could change next time ,the menu looks a bit expensive for a pub on a main road But I will definitely experience the cuisine on my next visit and to see if the food lives up to the Prices. .

My wife celebrated her 40th birthday at this restaurant and we decided to try all the starters, treating it like tapas. We had a wonderful dinner with great wine and received brilliant service from everyone we interacted with. The atmosphere was happy, calm, and beautiful. It couldn't have been a better evening. Thank you so much, we hope to visit again soon!

It's been a while since I have eaten before covid and the only reason we stopped going was menu didn't change so was nothing different to choose from. However everytime we have been food and service is excellent. We popped in on the way back from Plymouth for a couple of drinks and enjoyed it so chilled. We will be booking very soon. Fully recommend this place to all. View menu

Stayed for a few days. A nice place with nice decor, but a fair few issues round the edges. A limited menu, due to staff shortages forced us to go else where for evening meals. I can't blame the hotel for the hot weather but a bathroom radiator that was red hot and could not be turned off was a issue. We had to keep the windows open or be roasted and road noise was an issue as a result. The staff I can't fault, but the issues spoilt what should have been a fabulous stay.

Stayed here for a couple nights for work. Very quick and easy check in, staff show you to your room. Clean and nicely done building, amazing bed, hot shower, great selection of coffees and biscuits in the room with water. Food in the the pub is incredible, and the Sirloin steak and fish and chips. Great selection of beers, log fire which is a great bonus. Delicious breakfast with a vast selection of continental or cooked. Staff all around have been amazing. Definitely be back!

I stayed at this restaurant while attending a nearby course, and it exceeded my expectations. The room was delightful, immaculately clean, very cozy and warm, and included nice extras like tea and biscuits. The toiletries were of high quality and there were plenty of them. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, although a bit on the salty side for my taste. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay, dine, and have a drink. If I find myself in that area again, I would definitely book a stay. View menu

We had a wonderful stay here for one night to celebrate our Anniversary. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with special touches like hot chocolate, biscuits, and luxurious toiletries. The king bed was incredibly comfortable, and the towels were super fluffy. The meal was fantastic, although they were experiencing a shortage of chefs. Sunday, September 4th was the first day they offered a full menu; prior to that, they had only offered pizza. Breakfast was also delicious, with plenty of options including continental choices or a hot menu with a variety of items to choose from.

We stayed in this beautiful inn and tried wine in this pub. We arrived a little late around 9pm for check in, but they were kind enough to call us and check if there is anything wrong. The room we stayed was very clean and nice. The only issue with the room was they turned off the heater around midnight, so it went very cold. Luckily the blanket was very warm otherwise it would have been very difficult to stay indoor. They also had free parking which was amazing. The pub was very nice, clean. They also served breakfast as well but from 7am to 10am which we were late for it. Yes, we would come back to this place, but hopefully they read this review and fix the heating issue otherwise we would...

"The positive is that the food is good. But the negative is the service time and the attitude of the staff. We were seated and had our order taken after 20 minutes. A little slow but it was a busy Saturday evening so understandable. Starters came promptly and were eaten. We then got ignored by every passing member of staff for at least 50 minutes. Quite the skill! Once there was a break in our conversation and I realised how long it had been, I stood up to intercept a waitress and asked “are our mains on the way, please?” Our ticket was checked by her at the kitchen hatch and we were told “yes”. At this point our starter plates were cleared after they had sat on the table for at least 35 minutes. Our mains then took another 25 minutes to get to us, so I suspect that being told they were on their way was a lie. To be clear: we were given our mains 1hr 20 mins after placing our order. I complained to a waitress who sent over a manager. The manager asked if we’d had starters (yes, we had) and said that it was our fault our main was so late as we’d had a first course. How insulting!!! Blaming the customer for their bad service. Disgusting. When I said it was still far too long to wait between courses she then changed tack and said the kitchen was “really really busy” well, they weren’t busy cooking our food now were they?! And despite the place being full when we arrived, by this point of the night over half the tables were empty. There were 3 tickets on the pass along with ours and tables were 2 4 people (no large groups) so I feel that was also another lie to get out of it. What a shocking way to treat customers! My advice to you is: if you want your food served in a timely manner, either take the advice of the manager and don’t order a starter, or, be sure to communicate with waitstaff once your first course is finished and ask for your main to be cooked and served promptly. (Note: food also sat under the heat lamps for long lengths of time as staff stood socialising with one another behind the bar rather than serve customers) I hope this advice is of use as I would have appreciated it ahead of my visit! Good luck. [Reading other reviews, ours is not the only experience of slow service and seeing staff chat to one another rather than deal with the customers paying their wages.
