The Spotted Dog - Menu

I know the pub as i am local but didn't realise the menu was so different, had Goat Rogon which was truly superb, the others had different food but all agreed it was really good and we will return.

We decided to book for sunday lunch for my sons birthday following a recommendation. The service was adequate at best.The food was average,beige and not worth the final bill. The only saving grace was the Harveys beer which numbed my disappointment. I wont be going back anytime soon.

We were a walking group with 12 diners who all had an excellent experience. From the initial booking to our lunch on the day staff were very friendly, accommodating, efficient with great food and service. We'll all be back! Thanks to the Spotted Dog team. Much appreciated and highly recommended.

We had the roast lamb and roast pork. Both were very good, maybe the potatoes could have been done a little longer. The meat for both was very tender and plenty of assorted veg. Best of all was the service. All the young staff so polite and alert if anything was needed. The owners should be very proud of them especially Niamh.

Visited today for lunch with a walking group of 19. Communicating with the staff regarding the booking and pre-order was a breeze. Everyone was highly complimentary of the meals and service, empty plates and glasses all round. A real gem of a country pub, open fire and beams, good ale, food and service. We will certainly be visiting again. Thank you and we’ll done to the Spotted Dog.

We had booked our Christmas lunch for nine of us few weeks ago. Beautiful meal and very tasty. We had chosen our meals some weeks ago and they were tasty, looked good and generous in size. Very reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful and made sure we were comfortable and happy with everything. Slight negative point was that the room was slightly cold when we arrived but extra heat was provided quickly . Well done.

I went to this restaurant with my family for a Sunday roast. The staff were friendly and attentive, but the roast was only average. The beef and lamb were okay, but we were given only two roast potatoes and a small portion of vegetables for three people. If they are going to cut corners on other parts of the meal, they should at least give a decent amount of frozen vegetables. Overall, I was disappointed and won't be coming back.

I am very worried. There were four of us and we ordered two fish and chips that were spoiled- they smelled and tasted awful. The burger we also ordered was dry and not enjoyable, so we didn't finish it. My macaroni and cheese was basically watery milk with melted cheese on top- the fries were also undercooked. The service was inconsistent, our waitress was dropping chips and slurring her speech. The manager offered us a 50% discount on our bill, but I don't feel like it fully made up for our terrible experience.

I visited this stunning and historic building for the first time today, and I can't believe that we only live 15 minutes away and never tried it before. I ordered the goat curry, which was perfectly spiced with tender goat, accompanied by nice rice and crunchy crackers to scoop up the sauce. My wife had the steak and chips, which was the best I have ever seen or tasted in a pub. The portions were generous enough for me to steal a bit of everything. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the chef's use of spices in the curry and the peppercorn sauce was exceptional. I am eager to try everything on the menu. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a great experience.
