On a whim, we decided to drive to the outskirts of Dartmoor and stumbled upon this charming pub nestled in a village. The food was fantastic, the staff were incredibly welcoming, and it truly felt like a special discovery for my birthday celebration! We will definitely be coming back. View menu

The Sunday lunch we had was average. Unfortunately, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and the parsnips were undercooked. The service was slow, and we were seated at a table that was draughty and exposed to an open door. Despite other tables being available, we were not allowed to change.

I recently brought my mom here for Sunday lunch. She ordered the roast lamb while I opted for a burger. The food was exceptional - all homemade, delicious, and generous portions. The atmosphere was delightful and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

My husband I went here for lunch and had a lovely time. It was quiet when we arrived, but soon started filling up. It’s a really quirky pub with several separate dining areas. This pub/restaurant on the edge of Dartmoor National Park is fantastic. The food and service are excellent, with daily specials showcasing local game from the nearby Maristow shoot. Located just down the road from Buckland Abbey, it is the perfect place for a casual lunch or special occasion. A visit here is definitely worth it!

We were pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem after visiting our daughter in Plymouth. We found this great pub online and called last minute for a dinner reservation, and they were able to accommodate us. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing, especially the desserts. I particularly enjoyed their personalized wine selection. We will definitely be returning and look forward to visiting during the daytime and summer months.

We booked two nights at the pub because we liked the area. The room was clean and presented well. The shower was excellent and clean. The area is great for nature watchers with dogs. The estuary is close, as is the moor. This is a proper English pub with locals and their dogs filling one of the rooms. It has traditional beams and stone floor. Breakfast was a full one and was good. However, I had the mussels (moules frites), these were the best I have ever had. The sauce was just wonderful, and the chef came out and talked us through how to make it. Chips were up to par. No its not perfect, the roads are flippin narrow. It is however everything I would want from a pub and lodgings. View menu
