"A wonderful little restaurant! We discovered it by chance on the first day of our last Paris trip and decided to return the next day. The owner turned out to be a quiet, gentle, warm and welcoming man. He will explain the exotic dishes in (at least) French and English. If we were uncertain about something, he let us try (varieties of couscous, wine). So we had two different couscous dishes, one with chicken and one with lamb, wich were very tasty. The couscous is very light, we got a refill without even asking for. He offers some north african wines besides the french ones. The place is wonderfully decorated in north african style, and everything is very clean. The restaurant is accompanied by a little shop where the owners sell north african goddies (douceurs), which are also - as we assume by looking at the card - be ordered as a desert. Prices are a little higher than in the average brasserie, but well affordable. We felt at home almost immediately. Have a try!"

They really need to improve the vegetarian menu. At €36 per person, not much effort was really made for the mains. Overall, expensive for a poor experience.

This restaurant was recommended to us by some neighbours and did not disappoint. An extremely wide range of delicious couscous await you, excellent quality and reasonable value for money. Good friendly service too

I was on my own in Paris for work and this hotel was nearby. I came across it by chance but will return. Helpful staff, great food. I had Harira and a chicken Tangine followed by the oranges and cinnamon. Throughly recommend everything

We visited this restaurant by chance as the restaurant we had booked was not open. What a pleasant surprise. I had the vegetarian banquet which was light and refreshing after a week spent indulging in rich food. The couscous was so good. Service was friendly and relaxed. View menu

On y reviendra sûrement

This place was near the studio we were staying in and every day we would walk past their pretty restaurant and pastry shop window. On our second day I decided to try some of the lovely looking pastries. The man in the restaurant came to serve me and he gave me and my partner (who was standing in the street) a cup of sweet mint tea whilst I made up my mind. It was so hard as there were many little coloured parcels of the amazing flavours. I eventually chose pistachio, violet, bergamot and myrrh ! Very very nice they were

We visited Wally le Saharien in November 2010. I had wanted to visit the restaurant for years following a review in the New York Times, and finally had the opportunity. The restaurant is quaint and was a warm refuge on a cold rainy night. We were given a fanatastic table without a reservation. The food was outstanding. The vegetarian couscous was the best I have had, and when the owner saw how quickly we finished it, he brought us seconds! The selection of Algerian and Moroccan wines was also a nice surprise and we had the opportunity to try a very pleasant rose. We definitely plan on going back during our next visit to Paris. We went here on the recomendation of a nearby restaurant owner who's place was full. While the atmosphere was very nice, the service was a dreadful from the beginning and only got worse. Despite the restaurant being less than half-full the waitress ignored us and had to be flagged down to take our order. After an hour of waiting she had not yet brought our drinks or water or the appetizer we ordered. Only by getting up and finding new the kitchen were we able to secure a supply of water. After two hours our meals not yet been served. I think we were treated differently because we are foreigners.Duringsame time however people who arrived after us had already been served. I think perhaps we we...

This welcoming place in a nice neighbourhood (the 9th arrondissement is probably one of the most underrated neighbourhoods to go out in Paris), an institution with decades of dedicated service, Wally le Saharien has some of the fluffiest, most carefully prepared couscous you'll ever taste. The dry Saharan couscous - both the méchoui (lamb) and the two vegetarian versions, one with fresh vegetables and the other, sucré-salé (sweet and savoury at the same time) - combines lightness with sophistication, something not easily found at most couscous places. The owner is very friendly, willing to engage in a conversation while not overstepping the boundaries of proper service. A nice selection of M...
