Excellent little discovery. Not easily found. Smashing welcome from landlady. Wish we'd had the toasties looked excellent value. Good beer. Very welcoming atmosphere.

Located not far from Farrongdon Staion, tucked away . It's well worth finding. Historic building. Great architecture. Well maintained. A warm welcome and grate service.

Ye Olde Mitre is a splendid pub not open at weekends so make a special visit, go via the no-horse alley way to see the surprise unfold, lively pub, lovely staff, enjoy a pint or two, ask about the cherry tree View menu

A quirky, tiny pub with a big character! Met some work chums here tonight after some lockdown distance. We booked and were in ye closet (shades of Partridge there). Steven and Dean fantastic hosts and the ladies behind the bar fantastic too. I think we are going to book ye closet and move in. Thanks all (loud chatty woman with big bum in black) x

There are many famous old pubs in this district but unfortunately some of them serve bad pints and nonchalant or unfriendly reception. Those pubs certainly rest on the past glorious names but this pub is an exception. Every time I go their London Pride is well kept and the staff are professional and welcoming. If you want to soak up the real ambience, avoid busy hours.

Although this pub was taken over by Fullers its been left untouched , The beer is superb , we had the Dark Star winter ale , the staff are extremely friendly and it's a great place to see how pubs used to be , no game machines , televisions and people just having a good time drinking and chatting. A must for those wanting to experience a real pub with real atmosphere and real beer. View menu

Visited as a group of 14 pirates for a late brunch and was delighted to find that they served good quality flagons of grog and hearty fare fit for salty sea dogs. We put aside our usual pillaging for a couple of hours and so relaxed were we that no one felt the need to swash their buckle. A great historic pub tucked away down an alley that welcomes thieves, vagabonds and city workers alike, we will be back Arrrrrrrr!!!

Situated in an old alley close to Farringdon Station, Ye Olde Mitre is like stepping back at least 100 years or more and gives you a real feel about how it might have felt popping into a London pub back in the 19th century. The interior is small and quickly fills up, but there are plenty more seats out the front and round the side. The gents toilet is perhaps the smallest I've ever been in! An excellent selection of real ales from around the country which are well kept. The staff were friendly and the small menu of toasted sandwiches and savoury products were well presented and hit the spot. A little gem that is well worth a visit.

A search for the oldest public house in London turns up several venerable claimants. But the most authentic may be Ye Olde Mitre, near Chancery Lane tube stop in the Holborn district of central London. It boasts an age of nearly five centuries, established in 1547. That makes it hands down the oldest pub in London. Then again, a slight cavil might be raised that while something like a pub or a tavern probably has been in this spot since Henry VIII, it’s in dispute whether the current building could be that old.
