"Only a handful of people in the restaurant which should have warned us. Not been before, so decided to give it a go as place opposite was fully booked. Just wish I’d read the reviews before, as completely agree with the previous takeaway feedback. Although you’d like to think, as it’s brought straight from the kitchen, it would be a bit fresher, it wasn't. My friend couldn’t eat her chicken as it was so dry, and had to take a mouthful of water with each piece to help it go down. The kebabs just came with salad, which is mostly chopped iceberg lettuce and no dressing except a sprinkling of dried herbs, so we ordered rice and grilled vegetables. The rice looked like it had been cooked in a tin of tomatoes with some peas thrown in, no seasoning, no flavour. The grilled vegetables were quite something else. A side plate, of what looked like, semi cremated onions with a few shrivelled mushrooms and couple of slices of courgette, just a shame I didn’t take a photo! Honestly, everything was very basic, poorly cooked, seriously lacking in flavour and a complete waste of money. Spoke to waitress, she was absolutely lovely btw, and she spoke with the ‘chef’ (being used in the loosest sense of the word) who disagreed with the feedback of his chicken vegetable cooking, but nonetheless, agreed to charge us for a small kebab, as my friend had attempted to eat some, and to take the veggies off the bill. Safe to say, it’s one of the worst meals we’ve had and we won’t be going back."

"We have been to the Blackhorse Wembley several times including on Mother’s Day and loved the food and the reasonable price. Therefore, we willingly decided to book this pub for our Christmas Day lunch. We were a party of 6: 4 adults and 2 children (4 7). My husband and the kids arrived first then the other adults arrived a bit later. We were seated at a nice, cosy part of the pub and then ordered drinks from the bar. After sitting for a while no one came to our table so I had to politely ask the waitress to get our order, emphasising for the waitress to bring out the starter and the main at the same time for my 4 year old. So we patiently waited for our starters noting that all the other tables were having at least a starter or their main. After about 20 minutes I asked one of the waitresses about our order and said she would find out. To my surprise rather than communicating to me what was going on she brought more food to the other tables so had to wait another 20 minutes. By that time my two kids were starting to get upset and hungry. So I enquired that we are still waiting for our starters and to my amazement I was told that there was food waiting to be served and it was a case of first come first served. This did not make sense, otherwise why have a booking system as people would just turn up. After about another 15 minutes we still did not receive our meal so I enquired again and was advised that our order will be ready soon. After yet another lengthy wait and feeling exasperated I spoke to the manager and was surprised that even our starters had not arrived. Eventually we received our starters after an 1 hour 15 mins of waiting. Things did not get any better when we again had to wait for another 30 mins for our main meal. By this time we were all frustrated and stressed out by and did not fully enjoy our meal due to the disproportionate and poor communication. After the meal I went to the manager to get an ice lolly for my son and relayed the excessive delay to the manager who did not apologise but merely stated that the kitchen staff were working as hard as they could. I appreciate that as it was Christmas it was busy but to wait for over an hour is wholly unacceptable and unfortunately was one of the last memory of the day. Even my 4 year old son gave it the thumbs down. A very dissapointing conclusion to what was a very good Christmas up to the waiting for our meals. This year I would rather stress out in the kitchen cooking Christmas dinner rather than going to pub for Christmas. Please note before writing my review on Trip advisor I emailed the Blackhorse pub twice relaying the above and on both occasions did not receive any response. Sums up the lack of customer care that this pub has for its customers. Very disappointed!"

"My husband booked lunch here as a treat whilst we were in Wembley for an event. The table was booked for 2pm, and we arrived 5 minutes early for our booking. The restaurant was completely empty with no members of staff in sight. We sat outside and waited, aware that we were early and they probably weren 't ready yet. It got to about 2.10pm and we could see waiting staff putting candle holders on the tables, however they all deliberately avoided eye contact and still we waited. Eventually, at 2.15pm someone saw us stood waiting by the entrance and asked about our booking and took us to our table. The food was enjoyable and I cannot fault anything we were served. However, throughout the whole meal the service was lacking. There were only about 4 tables in the whole restaurant which were taken, so I would hate to see how they cope when they are busy.My husband 's side plate and roll that he was half way through eating were taken away from him when his starter arrived.I ordered soup to start. When it was set in front of me, the Waiter said he would bring me a soup spoon. I waited and waited, but it didn 't arrive. He obviously forgot and as he had disappeared out of sight, there was no way of asking again. Eventually, rather than having cold soup, I used my desert spoon. When it came to the bill, after another long wait to catch someone 's eye and request it, it came with a 'discretionary ' 10% service charge on. Having had such poor service, my husband and I had no intention of paying this charge and, as it was clearly marked as discretionary, we paid just over the billed amount for our food and drinks. We gave the payment to a waitress on the way out and she called us back to say that we hadn 't paid enough. When we explained that we didn 't feel the service warranted a tip and we had elected not to pay the service charge, she then said she had to call a manager over. This was all very embarrassing as again, we were quizzed on why we weren 't paying the full amount. After giving our feedback the manager agreed to re do the bill less the service charge. If a service charge is discretionary and therefore not mandatory, why are you made to feel like you are doing something wrong by not paying it and have to explain yourselves not once, but twice?Despite the nice food, this treatment left a bitter taste!"
