"this place existed for almost 33 years and I was never there! the German kitchen was too boring at that time and so I never came there. I always have positive information from friends and well-known who were there. Yesterday 31.07.2009) I was disappointed there and was able to convince myself of it locally. "Very nice ambience and generally a super cozy yet slightly elevated atmosphere. The service is extremely friendly and always has a loose jump on the lips (which is unfortunately not always the case with restaurants in the price segment). The food was tastefully excellent and also visually absolutely convincing (see pictures). The dishes are colorful, unusual and fresh! The portions match the price so you should add appetizer and dessert to become rich. The only real criticism of us was that there is no only vegetarian soup and generally only three vegetarian dishes. However, it is necessary to say that the card is constantly changing, so that perhaps the point of criticism is not always correct. "after the old load (piwys) is no longer resident, we have been surprised the days positiw. a new Burger-Brats has moved in. the load has not changed much inside. At the top it has become a bit more cozy because the seating places are made nicer.But now to the essence: the burger. we've always found piwys well, but I have to say that the burgers are better now. the meat is delicious, the rolls (you have the choice between 3 different sorts; I took the self-made rolls at both and the other one is exactly what he should be: simple and support the meat. I had both the cheesburger (litl bro and big bro (with 2*meat)). and he was great! flesh juicy and tender with good taste. the pommes were also very tasty, but I have to confess I am about pommes I am a pommesbudenkind. the pommes here are self-made and therefore get only 4 out of 5 stars -;)we come back and not only once."

They offer a nice patio area that offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Be aware that on weekends it is normally required to...have a reservation because it is busy. One can tell the dishes are prepared fresh by the flavors and one should not come to Arabesque in a rush. The lunch menu offers a more limited menu that allows for a quick(er) meal. "We had a reservation for five, what is always a challenge for a restaurant: crowded table for four or a spacious table for six? Luckily, we got a table for six, thus we had enough space. The menu card is a bit of confusing especially...for older persons, because it is not hte widely used list type, but more prosaic. Due to that, the order of drinks needs a little bit more time and mixed up the waiters. Subsequent, one drink was forgotten, but after short reminder, was quickly served. Then, there was a greeting from the cuisine, a wonderful creamy veal soup. As starter I had the gamba prawns, with oil, garlic, vegetables and piri piri (chilies). Itwas served in a small bowl, but also it was very hot, there was no indication that the prawns were fried anyway. The small bowl was filled up with oil, so that the prawns were flooded and swim in oil. Maybe this is the right way to serve, but for me it was to oily. Otherwise taste was good. The main course were some schnitzel with fries. The schnitzel were breaded and very tender. But again, the breading didnt show any sign of frying, the whole thing was very light. The opposite were the french fries, they were all brownish, maybe a bit to dark. It tasted all good, but from my point of view, the fries were too dark and the breaded schnitze l to light. Having the roasting at the right thing, it would even taste better. We also had some homemade breadrolls with some butter/dips in the beginning that were nice. It was good food with a nice taste, but msall things bring it down to stars."

"Had never been to Essen before so relied upon Tripadvisor for guidance on where to eat. Wanted something within walking distance of the hotel but also something tasty. Found the banana leaf restaurant, which ticked both boxes and also had a high rating in terms...of reviews. It was Thai Malaysian cuisine and we found it quite easily thanks to the AI god that is google maps. Although it was a dark and damp Wednesday evening in this fairly large German town, it was quite clear that this place was popular due to the fact it was almost full when we arrived. We were ushered to a table in the corner and then presented with the menus. I opted for the chicken satay to start followed by the spicy beef with fried rice and vegetables. Dishes were really well prepared and were presented on large green ceramic banana leaf plates as per the name of the place. Nice plates and good sized tasty portions. Staff were also very pleasant in terms of welcome and service. Also very good value at just under per person for starter, main meal drinks. Certainly recommend this place if you are in the vicinity and fancy an authentic spicy meal."

Ich besuche die oase Due nun schon seit über 20 Jahren und bin noch nie enttäuscht worden. Im Gegenteil, was Franco hier jeden Abend mit seinem team aus dieser Miniküche herauszaubert hat Sternequalität. Und auch dies sollte mal gesagt werden. Seine Trüffelnudeln sind ein gedicht, der Service ist ausgezeichnet. "Delicious Italian food. The prices are in the middle segment, fair and appropriate for the quality of the food. Stauder on tap and free rolls with spread and limonchello as a nightcap served with the meal. The waitress was very friendly and always there immediately when you were thinking about ordering something. Great, we ate there for the 7th time and everyone was completely satisfied. "It 's funny but the Zweibar has a kind of cult status in Essen. I guess I can understand why, but in the end the experience of eating there is nothing so special. I have only been 3 times and always for brunch... this is what...the Zweibar is most famous for... those late breakfasts, or brunches. It is always dark inside; not dark and atmospheric, but rather dark and a little bit sombre... the dishes are slightly above average, the coffee is pretty good, the wait staff are friendly (but often a bit distracted and hard to track down), and so all in all it just doesn 't quite make it into the category of this is going to be one of my regular places . Having said that, it is a regular haunt for many people, and like I said, it almost has a kind of cult status here in Essen."
