"We made a reservation for a Friday lunch on a sunny late May day. To our surprise, the place was quite empty, and we were the only customers at 1 PM. The owner's partner was very friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The pub is dog-friendly and features a spacious parking lot, as well as expansive grassy areas with picnic benches, some covered seating, and a secluded area with ample tables and chairs. The atmosphere of the pub is inviting, but it currently suffers from a lack of a chef. The food was decent, but the fish was only lukewarm and the peas were served in small porcelain dishes that hadn't been drained properly. I ended up tipping mine onto the plate, and the excess water spoiled the crispness of the batter. On the bright side, the chips were excellent and well-presented. As we were leaving, a rented campervan pulled in, and the large parking lot was a definite advantage. The main challenge for this potentially fantastic pub is finding a skilled chef. The owners are doing their best, and with the right staff, they could really thrive."
