"Everyone loves an Italian and this one is more authentic than the pastiche chains. I felt it was going to be good when on booking I could hear the unmistakable Italian debate in the background! We were not disappointed, it’s not luxury dining by any stretch, but good quality, well prepared and tasty. House wine was also very palatable. Between us we had muscles, pizza, pasta, gnocchi and a calzone. All great. Staff welcoming and friendly. Worth a visit. Ciao!"

"Decent coffee and cakes and good wheelchair access, no toilets but a good public loo is only about 30 yards away. Also dogs are allowed at the outside tables. Please note, all the other eating establishments we looked at in Lynmouth seemed not to have wheelchair access however on the way back to the car we saw one round the corner facing the sea which claimed good disabled access, we had discounted this on first passing as it is located upstairs, presumably they have a decent lift."

"Visited Wimpy, after years of not having one.. So travelled to Barnstaple just to have one.. A lovely clean, friendly, attentive restaurant. Everything came out quickly, and was hot. Really enjoyed our experience. Looking forward to visiting again."

"One of my favourite takeaways, all the food tastes delicious and the service is great! Decided that I would order online and called to get an update, the person who picked up the phone was lovely and just explained that they were busy so the waiting times were slightly longer- it’s definitely worth the wait! Staff are always so friendly. Definitely would recommend Ketchup to everyone!"

"I've enjoyed good meals here in the past, but this visit was disappointing. The customer service was lacking, and the chorizo was overcooked. Additionally, I was not informed about the special offer."

"We had an early dinner before our sunset safari. After trying a few places without any luck, we decided to walk into this restaurant and were warmly welcomed. I really enjoyed the modern and unique vibe of the bar, and the cocktails were delicious. We ordered soup, potato soup, and chickpea-lentil curry to go along with our onion rings. The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch. The clean restrooms were a bonus in such a busy city."

"Whist staying at Golden Coast we tried this pub. The place was clean and the staff friendly. However, the food was of poor quality, portions small, poorly presented and luke warm. The catch of the day fish was cod straight out of the freezer. The chips were low quality catering ones. My chicken pie was served in a pie dish covered in flaky pastry that had lost its puff. It was basically a few pieces of chicken in a sauce which was runny like gravy. This was served with a lump of mashed potatoes and peas. In fact I think all the meals were served with peas."

"Very friendly and welcoming with plenty of ales and ciders to choose from. Food was lovely and piping hot which was in keeping with good home made fare. Unfortunately we were too late to get the Steak and Ale Pie, as the last portion went to the couple on the next table. Our landlady was apologetic and very attentive, highlighting the fact that everything is fresh and not frozen. So a word if advice is to get there early. When it's gone, it's gone. if only we had been here at the weekend! The roasts look delicious but are Saturday and Sunday only, so we will have to stop by the next time we are over this way Rick Tracy"

"We booked through booking site which sometimes overages the hotels but this time it was spot on. There are steps to be negotiated although a ready hand with our case was given but if this is an issue just settle to eat and stay elsewhere but if you do you will miss a treat. The ROMs are modern well furnished with state of the art bathrooms. A nod to keeping it original the sash window is renovated but single glazed you will hear the fun outside but come closing time it was silence. The food is really good, you do have to order at the bar and the menu is chalked up on boards but then you won't ever be waiting and a request for wine comes with an instant bottle and glasses over the bar, if this isn't your thing well you are missing the point, it's a public and spotless but restored to look like a local from days past as is the exterior which matches this tiny village would you really want gastro pub garish grey. Like everything good or really good it reveals its secrets one by one, try the home made cakes in place of biscuits or flask of real milk. Glad to have discovered and to share"

"On a cool autumn morning with dew still on the windows, the scent of the sea in the air was captivating. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a mix of aromas - the warm cafe air wrapped around me, while the enticing smells of bacon and coffee filled the room. I sat down and the friendly server took my order with a smile, patiently noting down my extensive breakfast cravings. As I waited, time seemed to stand still until my meal arrived, a hearty breakfast that I had been eagerly anticipating. The bacon sandwich placed before me was simply delicious, and I savored every bite. I will definitely return to this charming spot, a memory I look forward to sharing during the holiday season. Ilfracombe, I adore you."

"If you're looking for a beautiful spot to enjoy a meal, The Boathouse in Instow is definitely worth a visit. The building is beautiful and the view is simply stunning, providing the perfect backdrop for your meal. While the breakfast and lunch menus may be somewhat limited in terms of options, the quality and flavor of the food are both good. While prices may be on the higher side for pub grub, the view and great taste make it worth it. The staff are also friendly and welcoming, making for an enjoyable overall experience. So, if you're looking for a great place to enjoy a meal with a view, The Boathouse is definitely worth checking out."

"We visited a wonderful tea room recently that had just been taken over by new owners. This family-run business serves delicious food and coffee in a cozy environment. The menu was full of tasty treats, from foot long Bratwurst to birthday cake slushies. Despite having some picky eaters in our group, including children with special dietary needs, the staff handled everything with ease and kindness. The small size of the place meant we had a great interaction with other customers, making for a friendly atmosphere. The efficient service and obvious passion of the owners for their business left a lasting impression on us all. My daughter was even inspired to leave her first ever tip, thanks to the wonderful experience we had at this charming tea room."

"Loved the green juice i had, coconut, lime, kale and more, 3 of us ordered differnt breakfasts all looked fab, my veggie mexican egg dish was beautfully spiced. We had to wait ages, i heard one customer it will be a half hour wait that was when we had been there around half an hour, we were not told of a wait. I guess they are short staffed like everywhere nowadays. So great food, great choices for veggies too, but busy and you will have to wait. This was monday morning not in school holidays, but a sunny day"

"This ia nice pub in a pleasant village setting and with good car parking, Hopes were high when the new proprietors took over this establishment 12 months ago. The beer was well kept and a new menu with Asian bias was intriguing. The Malaysian chef was keen to make his presence felt, certainly knew his stuff and seemed keen to please. We looked forward to continuing great hospitality at the Ebby A year later, there's been an unfortunate decline. The chef seems to have departed since he has not put in an appearance lately and the standard of food has certainly dropped off although the cost hasn't. Lets hope the proprietor recovers his mojo soon and gets things moving along once again but currently the pub is not great."

"I popped in to the redwood café to buy a couple of ice creams. The shop assistant was in deep conversation with a friend about the effects of Covid on the business and how difficult times were. I listened to the conversation for some time, I was totally ignored, not even acknowledged and left without my ice creams. No wonder they’re not doing very well."

"I booked this almost 3 months in advance, for our wedding anniversary and i have to say, it was well worth the wait. The service was understated but very efficient and the food was sublime. We had a beautiful Chablis with our meal, very well priced. My husband had a ‘delicious’ seafood starter and i had a well seasoned prawn crumble, both arrived at the table fresh from the oven and the accompanying toast and bread were still warm. We both chose lamb cutlets for our main and they were fabulous. Tender and perfectly cooked (pink) and the accompanying vegetables were red hot, perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. I didn't have room for a dessert, but my husband pronounced his ‘absolutely lovely’ and i have no reason to doubt his opinion! We were both stunned when it came to paying the bill it was so cheap! We paid more for fish and chips last week than for the fantastic main course and i know which id rather have! I am amazed that this restaurant is not further up the trip advisor rankings it is seriously one on the best places i have eaten at in a long time and it wont be long before i go again…. If i had to make a complaint, i found the seats uncomfortable but its such a minor thing that in no way would it put me off going again I have tried to book this restaurant for a while now, but whenever the opportunity arose they were fully booked. I booked in March to go in May, and as I left i noticed a sign saying they are fully booked until August, so if you want to go be advised to book well in advance."

"Tuesday 8th Oct 6pm. Only customers in restaurant. Our fish 'n ' chips were cooked to order. While they were cooking the fryer alarm was being triggered constantly. I was told it was the fat level and there was nothing the operator could do about it. Nearly left as it was very annoying. We were offered ketchup and it arrived in a refillable plastic bottle. Our meal arrived and looked great. Crunchy chips and crisp fish. As we started to eat you could see the fat collecting on the plate. Finished the meal and too be honest would never go in again. Both my wife and myself felt quite unwell afterwards, the taste of fat kept regurgitating."

"Looked at a few cafés for lunch in Lynmouth and Lynton, all seem to be extremely overpriced for what they were offering! We stumbled across the Pie shack , Don’t be put off by it’s size. A really small place at the top of the central thoroughfare in Lyton, what a find, and such a lovely lady that runs it, we had FRESH, oven cooked NOT microwaved Lamb Pastie with salad and coleslaw a vegetarian beetroot, chickpea and cheese pie again with a lovely salad, both were absolutely delicious and whilst we waited on the bench outside for the food to heat 10mins or so , free coffee was available. Well done I really couldn’t recommend you highly enough "

"My wife and I were staying as residents of The Barnstaple Hotel, but given that non residents can also visit the restaurant, have chosen to review it separately. Weeks before our trip to Barnstaple, we had looked at the menu, read the reviews and were frankly quite excited to be dining here. Residents of the hotel certainly do not need to venture in Barnstaple town to eat. My wife had the fish cake starter and I had the beetroot cured salmon both were excellent. My wife had the lamb main course and I had the sea bass. We were delighted with both of these, although I thought the highlight for me were actually the vegetable sides! Great care has been taken over these. The service, food, general dining experience was at superior level until it was the turn of the young lad with 'shaggy hair ' to play his part in our meal. His only job is to clear plates, provide complimentary water and offer the dessert menu. He cleared our plates, topped up our water and I asked for the dessert menu, which never arrived. It was frustrating to see him only carrying out these three tasks, clearly not able to perform all of them. When one of his more capable colleagues asked us whether we would like to see the dessert menu, I explained what had happened and that we would just have the bill. Shaggy haired teen aside, his poor performance is not sufficient to lose The Brasserie Restaurant any TripAdvisor 'blobs '. I have been visiting Barnstaple for more than a decade and frankly only Claytons The Glasshouse has provided anything like this. Wholeheartedly recommended and would definitely return. Amongst the best in Barnstaple."

"We had a table booked for 6:30 at the Jack Russell, but after a long drive down to our air BnB for the weekend which incidentally is directly behind the pub we decided to opt for the take out. We explained this to the manager who was absolutely lovely about it and told us to ring up with our order and what time we would like it for. We had large cod and scampi both as meals and they were divine! Freshly cooked piping hot and lots of flavour! The curry sauce was the best I think I’ve ever had from a ‘chippy’. Couldn’t recommend enough. Staff inside the pub when we collected were all so lovely and friendly."
