"The room itself was very spacious, which we appreciated, and the bathroom was also large and nicely decorated. However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. For instance, there was no water provided in the room; even a bottle of tap water would have been a nice touch for the night. Additionally, there was no milk for our coffee and tea, which I believe is typically standard in hotels, so we were quite surprised.
Furthermore, the coffee machine appeared to be unclean, and the fridge in the room had crumbs and hair at the bottom.
Before heading out, my husband and I went to the bar area for a drink. While the bar staff were polite, the atmosphere felt rather dull. I think having some soft background music would enhance the vibe in that space.
Breakfast in the morning was a significant disappointment. While the continental selection was beautiful, the cooked breakfast items were tough and overcooked—especially the sausages! The haggis was unappetizingly mushy, and we chose not to eat it. We had high expectations for this hotel due to its association with Peebles Hydro, but it didn't live up to what we anticipated, and we probably won’t be returning."
